Every four years, Americans have the opportunity to experience the Inauguration of a new President. Jan 20th, 2009 is Inauguration Day for Barrack Obama. Inauguration activities are all over the news now, defining what we as adults can expect to see. This can be an educational time for your children as well. Inauguration activities for children help them understand the process and give them information they can use for years to come.

Educational Rap Music (www.educationalrap.com) has updated their tune that names the Presidents to include Obama as President Number 44. For part of your Inauguration activities for the children, consider having a contest to see who can learn the song. There is an audio of it on the web site, along with the written lyrics and it can be downloaded to MP3.

The quiz has a novice version and an expert version. The quiz is found at http://www.pbs.org/newshour/inauguration/quiz.html#

We are going to also have an Inauguration Celebration pizza party at my school. We are going to paint plates and lots of coloring sheets. We are also wearing either our Obama t-shirts or red, white and blue. :)
