Incontinence and Sex Life: Making Sure the Partner is Trustworthy
Before the incontinent person should engage in sex, it is important that the incontinent individual be open with his or her partner about everything. The incontinent individual needs to disclose the possibilities of what can happen during sex as it relates to incontinence. He or she needs to be up front with his or her partner and let the partner know about his or her condition, whether he or she suffers from bowel or bladder incontinence and what can be done in the event that those accidents occur. The last thing that the incontinent individual will want to happen is for his or her partner to find out the hard way, such as the incontinent person having an accident during sex, which will cause problems, like embarrassment, humiliation from the continent partner, and anger at not knowing ahead of time. Not to mention, the incontinent individual can save him or herself from being rejected in a way that will be much more horrible than if he or she notified his or her partner ahead of time. This way, if the incontinent individual notifies his or her prospective partner about his condition and the risks that may come with it during sexual activity, the continent partner can not only choose beforehand whether or not he or she wishes to engage in a relationship with someone who is incontinent, which is far easier than being rejected after engaging in sexual encounters already, the incontinent individual can be spared of unnecessary troubles and scars that he or she does not need. Should the incontinent individual find a partner who is understanding, loving and willing, the sexual experiences will be rewarding. An incontinent individual can only find such rewarding and fulfilling relationships if he or she is open and honest, though it is very difficult to do.
Incontinence and Sex Life: Precautions to be Taken
There are a couple of precautions that an incontinent person can take to make his or her sexual experience easier. One precaution that can be taken is to protect the bed with either blue pads or a rubber mattress protector. Taking this precaution will make cleanup much easier, should an accident occur. The trick is to make it seem to the continent partner that accidents during sex is no big deal and that if it should happen, it can be cleaned up in a flash, hence the reason for the blue pads or mattress protector.
Another precaution that can be taken is to try to plan sexual activities after the incontinent person has wet or soiled his or her diaper. This way, both partners know that there will be a little while before the incontinent person should have an accident, since he or she just went. Taking this precaution will insure accident free sex, though, it is not always guaranteed, depending on the problem that the incontinent individual has.
Incorporating Incontinence into One's Sex Life
Depending on the couple, some may want to incorporate various aspects of incontinence into their sex life. Though it would not be proper to become too graphic here, one can use his or her imagination to think of how it might be done. What is done, however, will depend upon what the couple is consensually comfortable with doing.
With a bit of creativity, as well as with an understanding partner, just about anyone can have a fulfilling sex life, no matter the impairment. Something such as incontinence is a very small issue compared to some other impairments, and such a condition is easy to work with, hence the reason that an incontinent person can very easily have a fulfilling sex life without little difficulty.
