Who needs real snow? You can create your own winter wonderland in the comfort of your own home regardless of the weather. You can purchase fake cotton snow at any number of retail stores - including some dollar stores! There is also canned fake snow that you can spray on your windows and glass doors for that wintry feeling. As for clothing, ask guests to wear their favorite scarf and hat! Serve hot cocoa in coffee mugs (matching or not). If you have a fireplace, light it up! There is nothing better than sitting in front of the fire with good friends, hot cocoa and snow (real or fake).
Christmas Movie Flashback Night
We all have our favorite Christmas movies. Why not share? Ask everyone to come to the party with their favorite film in hand. You will need to make sure that you know the format of the film (DVD, Blu-Ray or VCR tape). Using a website such as evite will allow you to create a list and ask your guests to choose from remaining titles on the list so that you end up with a variety of films to view together. As for food, it's a movie night so you can serve something as simple as popcorn, hot dogs and nachos if you choose!
Elvis-Style Christmas
Now, this is surely a unique idea for the party planners who've done almost everything! Prepare some Elvis tunes for your party guests and ask them all to dress as the King himself. Women can dress up, too! As the party host(s), you will want to pull out all the stops and really make your costume pop. Choose from a variety of decades and even do an outfit change if you want to really feel like a star at your party! For food, serve Elvis' favorite sandwich - peanut butter and banana! You can fry up other southern-style foods as well. Give each of your friends a small (or large, if you prefer) Elvis gift as a trinket to remember your Elvis-Style Christmas.
Deck the Halls with Popcorn Balls!
Throw a "Deck the Halls with Popcorn Balls" Christmas party this year! Have your guests get in the kitchen with you to make popcorn balls while listening to accompanying holiday music. If your kitchen is a little too close for comfort for some of your guests, you can have them decorate blank pre-cut Christmas ornaments using art supplies you provide (glue, paint, glitter, pasta shapes). When the popcorn balls are done, you can round up all of the guests in the main room and watch one of the Christmas classics that are sure to be airing on television.
Italian Feast Party
Nothing says Christmas like an Italian family. Whether or not you share in this culture yourself, you can create a family-inclusive atmosphere for all of your guests this holiday. Prepare lasagna, manicotti, ravioli, fresh bread warmed in the oven and tiramisu for your guests and ask them each to bring an Italian dish they enjoy. Serve red wine in wine glasses with Christmas charms around the stems. Showcase your home with as much or as little Christmas decoration as you prefer. Sit, relax and enjoy your company. That is the Italian way!
