Incorporating Feng Shui Principles to Attract Prosperity and Good Health

Harness Universal Chi Energy by Minding Your Thoughts

Kathy Browning
As we kick off the New Year, there has never been a better time to incorporate feng shui principles into your life. This ancient art has been practiced over 4000 years and can help bring good health and prosperity to your doorstep.

I was introduced to feng shui in the late 90s by feng shui master, Nikkea B. Devida. Not only was she my mentor, she became a good friend. When I published Feng Shui for Abundant Living, Nikkea wrote the Forward and became my biggest fan. To this day, I believe her good energy helped make the book one of my best sellers.

Feng shui principles teach students how to control the flow of energy. Most feng shui books refer to this energy as Chi (chee) or Qi. Everything in the universe has its own life force energy. From the water to the air, the sun and the moon, plants and trees, insects, fish, and mammals, everything works in harmony to maintain the universal flow of energy.

According to feng shui there is no bad or good energy. However, Chi does fall into the category of either Yin or Yang. Yin energy is calming, low, and inactive, while Yang energy is active and bright. Too much or too little of either can cause imbalance.

When excessive Yin energy is present, people often feel lethargic. When excessive Yang energy is present, people often find their mind is scattered or they feel jittery and unable to concentrate. Feng shui principles reveal ancient secrets as to how to balance these energies.

Your personal chi can be affected by many factors. These can include food and drink, surrounding environment, and other people. Chi is constantly circulating throughout your body in the form of blood, water, and electricity.

The ancient Hindu texts of knowledge known as Vedas refer to seven energy chakras located within the body. These include the root chakra located at the end of the spine, sacral chakra in the lower abdomen, solar chakra at the naval, heart chakra, throat chakra, third eye chakra located between the eyebrows, and crown chakra located above the head.

The chakra system pulsates energy throughout the body via energy meridians that flow along the arms, legs, torso and head. Chi energy is responsible for carrying thoughts, ideas, and emotions throughout the body to manifest dreams and goals. Learning to harness thoughts and emotions can bring your life back into balance.

The saying of 'thoughts are things' is particularly true when practicing feng shui. Throughout the years of sharing feng shui principles the most common desire is to have more money. People often say "I want more money" or "I need more money." These thoughts can be detrimental because they keep people stuck in want or need mode.

When someone says "I want" or "I need" money they will find it more difficult to attract than if they were to say "I have money now." Stating to the Universe that all is well sends positive Chi throughout the body. This energy exudes and is passed along to everyone and everything that person encounters. It builds and builds until the exact thought the person is having manifests.

The same holds true when people state, "What else is going to go wrong?" or "What next?" Over the years I have learned to never ask "What's next" when things are not heading in the direction I desire, because I am rapidly shown another negative event. Instead, my motto is "I can't wait to see what good comes from this." This saying has yet to fail and I hope you will adopt it as your motto too.

We have only touched the surface of feng shui principles, but those who begin to be mindful of their thoughts will be taking the first step of bringing balance into their life. Spend the next few days paying close attention to what you say, think, and feel. When negative thoughts arise counteract with a positive thought. Keep a journal of the good things that begin to occur.

Afterward, begin the second phase of feng shui principles by clearing the clutter. I offer 10 clutter-buster tips in Using Feng Shui to Clear the Clutter. Most can be performed in under an hour and all will improve the flow of Chi within your home and work environment.

Good overview... when I was in acupuncture school, a couple of my fellow students were particularly interested in the similarities between feng shui and acupuncture.

Very interesting stuff, Kath. This is sort of what I do when I pray to God. I begin by thanking Him for all of the blessings in my life ~ I may want or need something, but I am thankful for what I do have. It lends itself as a source of peace and contentment. It is well with my soul :) Merry Christmas and good Cheers for the New Year's.
