Increase Your AC Page Hits: Use Supporting Links

How to Guide Viewers to More of Your Content for Increased Page Views

Gina Grace
This past week I was on the phone with a friend and we were walking through her first submission to Associated Content. I certainly remember my first submission, not too long ago. I wished for a friend or forum that was sincerely helpful to explain simple things it took my way too long to learn.

If you are new to Associated Content, then you may not have figured out all the ways to increase your page views. Some are so obvious, and really AC tries to make it easy. Sometimes, you just need a friend to say, "Are you doing ____, because it will really help."

So, here is a great tip to increase page views using "Supporting Links." This is a field (actually three fields) located at the bottom of the submission page that asks you to enter search tags that describe your topic. The field title is clearly marked "Supporting Links."

In the margin of the page there is a "Tip" that suggests you enter 1-3 related links to other content on AC. Though I saw this at first, I misused it. I can only attribute this to total ignorance. Even worse, I did this more than once. So, make the most of the ways AC helps you and learn to use this field. Here's how:

First, open another internet window while you are making a submission and pull up AC (yes, another session - other than the one you are using to submit.) Scan your content in your own account for articles you have written before that fall into a similar topic. For example, if you are writing about photography and you have written about photography before, go to your former article (in your second session of AC) and cut (to paste) the link in the address bar of the first article, then paste it in the "Supporting Links" field of your new submission.

Bear in mind, the related articles do not have to be on the exact same subject, they just need to relate in some way. If I am writing an article that would appeal to mothers and I have written different subjects that also appeal to mothers, I would add those article links.

Your goal is to fill the 3 fields with content that relates to the new content you are submitting. Ultimately, you are adding 3 links that will appear under a "Resources" tab when your article is published (on the same page as your new article.)

This is an awesome way to drive viewers reading your article to other works, or additional information you have written before. This will create more hits on your articles...more page views...more money for you! It is a simple thing to do and can increase your views with very small effort.
