Directions for Independence Day Grilled Burgers
1
You will need a small sauce pan. Combine the garlic, onion, catsup, steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, cooking oil, vinegar, and hot pepper sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce and let simmer uncovered for about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside till needed.2
In a medium mixing bowl combine ground beef, salt, and pepper; mix well. Shape the meat mixture into four thick patties.3
Cook hamburgers in a covered grill. Arrange preheated coals around the drip pan in the grill. Cook at medium heat above the pan. Place the hamburger meat on the grill rack over the drip pan. Cover and grill for about 20 minutes or until a thermometer inserted inside the hamburger registers 160 degrees. Remember to turn the burger once about half way through the grilling time. Brush frequently with the sauce during the last 5 minutes of grilling.4
Now get ready to serve your Independence Day Burgers. Split and toast the hamburger buns on the grill. Serve the hamburger patties on the buns with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Makes 4 servings.Tip
Prepare the sauce up to 24 hours before grilling burgers.
