Prepare for ecstasy! Please let me introduce you to Anohka Skin Care. This is one of those product lines that makes me giddy. Yes, I hop up and down, clapping my hands together, while making silly sounds. Those of you who know me can attest. Well, I did all of that and more when I received samples of this line.

Anohka is comprised of: Almond Cleansing Milk-for normal to dry skin, Oatmeal Cleansing Milk- for normal to oily skin, Lotus Flower & Rosewater Toner, Rice & Bamboo Facial Scrub, Red Sandalwood and Neem Clarifying Mask, Jasmine Serum, and Amla Skin Brightening Lotion.

Say the words with me: paraben free, sulfate free, artificial color free, artificial fragrance free (without sacrificing scent one tiny bit), glycol free, formaldehyde donor free. Do you hear the angels singing? Ok, so all of these things might be familiar to you and they might not.

Parabens have been getting a lot of press recently due to a Canadian study showing the presence of parabens in cancerous breast tissue. Now, it has caused an uproar and tilt-a-wheel feeling in the beauty industry. Consumers are now demanding all of their products be paraben free, hospitals are adopting paraben bans on any product, manufacturers are scrambling to find something effective to replace parabens. So, is it a good idea to avoid parabens? Yes, is my opinion. Do I think something with parabens is going to give you breast cancer? No. There are no hard studies showing cause or a direct link to breast cancer from parabens. That does not mean you should not be cautious. A link may be found some day. Personally, my opinion is this: the find has caused us all to put on our thinking caps and find a better alternative to this long-used preservative. Also, I do not use any products with parabens-mostly because the really good products have already nixed them. I find those that care about the formulation of their product avoid parabens. (Curious to me, in all of this, that the food industry is not so hot to remove them from foods. One would think higher retention and absorption would come from ingestion, but maybe that's just me.)

Sulfates, glycols, and formaldehyde donors have also been linked to studies that accuse them of all types of horrible side effects. These include cancer and birth defects. Personally, I find these chemicals to be horrible and avoid them at all cost. They are traditionally inexpensive ingredients that help produce stable products.

So, happy day to have an entire line free of them. Not to mention a line of products that actually produces results. You will not just be taking my word for it on this line, all the girls in the office are screaming to get their hands on more, more, more! Ok, enough of that and back to the products! My favorites are the Amla Skin Brightening Lotion, Jasmine Serum, the Rice & Bamboo Facial Scrub, and the Red Sandalwood & Neem Mask. I know, that's almost all of the products, right?

The Amla Skin Brightening Lotion is a breakthrough product, in my opinion. It is an anti-aging, hydrating lotion, that contains ingredients four times more effective than hydroquinone in skin lightening. Yeah, I said lightening. I am not the product owner or seller so the FDA can't stop me from telling the truth. Products are not allowed to say lighten, but that is what this will do-lighten hyper pigmentation or age spots. It will do it safely and without irritation. Plus, the green mango scent is so yummy.

Jasmine is my most favorite scent, so the Jasmine Serum was the one I went for first. It smells divine, but the product is way more than that. It is the perfect balance of moisture, penetrates quickly, and leaves no reside on the face. Today, who has five minutes to wait for their moisturizer to dry before putting on makeup? Nobody, so this is perfect.

Honestly, I can't remember loving a facial scrub more than the Rice & Bamboo Facial Scrub. It is aggressive enough to produce instantly visable results, but gentle enough for my Irish skin. Exfoliation is very important in the skin care regimen and this is a scrub that you can use every day. The recommended usage is twice a week, but if you aren't applying too much manual pressure you can do this scrub daily...I do.

Red Sandalwood & Neem Mask...I walked around with this on my face one day. I had a cystic acne episode and thought "there's no time like the present" to see if this stuff really works. Once you see the color, you will understand why I got cross-eyed looks from everyone in the building. It's reddish-purpley, a very odd sight on my very pale skin. Still, once those crossed eyes saw that my cyst was gone the next day they all begged me for a bit of my mask. Seriously, this drew everything out of my pores in an expeditious manner. Now, it is common to see someone with a reddish-purpley blob on their face during the day. We all just give the knowing nod now!

I would highly recommend any and/or all of these products to you. If you are unsure as to which might be best suited for you, feel free to contact the company for guidance. Personally, just knowing a sucessful plastic surgeon took the time to develop natural products should give this line credibility. This is no slap your name on an existing formula or full of hype and no substance line! The affordable pricing makes it almost too good to be true!

Check it out and let me know what you think!
