Indian Idol 2010: Audition Dates, Registration and More

Indian Idol 2010 is back! India's favorite singing star search is back for its fifth season on Sony TV.

If you want to register for an audition, send SMS IDOL to 52525 or call 5052525. Venues for auditions have also been announced. Here is a list of cities where you can try your luck to be the next Indian Idol:

3-4 March - Kolkata
9-10 March - Delhi
15 March - Indore
19 March - Ahmedabad
23-24 March - Mumbai

Contest rules and regulations are posted here. One interesting point from the rules:

"Any Indian citizen aged between 15 and 30 years as on 1 February 2010 is eligible to take part in Indian Idol. Contestants aged under 18 must have their application form signed by their parents/guardians."

In American Idol the maximum age limit is 28. Looks like it is okay to be bit older in India!

Now, what is Indian Idol without the judges! In addition to funny aspiring singers who can't sign and those who could give established signers inferiority complex, judges and their bickering is the most interesting part of the Indian Idol experience. I am sure it will be the same for Indian Idol season 5.

RealBollywood is speculating that Shreya Ghosal could join the judging panel for Indian Idol season 5.

"The makers of the show are also trying to rope in singer Shreya Ghoshal to accompany Anu Malik and Loy(of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) on the judge's seat. It is said that Shreya is eager to join the show provided she gets the go ahead by Star Plus as she is presently engaged with its show 'Music Ka Maha Muqabla'.

While Shreya and Loy are tipped to judge the show, Indian Idol season one winner Abhijit Sawant and runner up Prajakta Shukre are in talks to host the show."

That sounds interesting. Anu Malik is the Indian version of Simon Cowell, lets see how soft spoken and very measure Shreya will handle that tart box.
