Indian Recipe - "Boori" a Sweet Ball

In Indian vegetarian Recipe "Boori" a sweet ball comes on the top of the list. On every sacred occasion in south India "Boori" the Andhra recipes are prepared by south Indians.

Andhra recipes - Ingredients
Channa dal, Moong dal, Biri dal, sugar, rice, jaggery, Elaichi, coconut and oil.

125 grams of Chana Dal
100 grams of Biri dal
125 grams of Moong dal
150 grams of rice
300 grams of sugar
1 full coconut (grated)
2 to 4 Ellaichi (Powered)
2 to 4 spoons of Jaggery
1 litre - oil (used for frying purpose)

Preparation of Indian vegetarian recipes
To prepare "Boori" Andhra recipe soak the Chana dal and Moong dal in a container and fill it with water for over night.

In another container soak Rice and Biri dal and fill the container with water and keep it over night.

Next day morning drain out the Chana dal and Moong dal and put it in a wet grinder or Mixee.
a) Grind but see that it is not finely pasted.
b) Take out this paste in a dry container and prepare Idli out of it.

Making of Idli
To prepare this Andhra recipe put some oil in an Idli container & pour this paste in to each Idli mould in a pressure cooker. Put two glass of water in the pressure cooker base and place this Idli maker in it, without having the whistle for ten minutes and remove the pressure cooker from the gas to cool.

After this we will prepare the cover of the "Boori" the sweet ball.

Grind the Biri dal and Rice in a grinder to fine paste and add salt to taste and two spoons of Jaggery into it and keep it aside.

Next, take out the Idli from the idli maker and split/open the Idli in to fine granules. Add the powdered Ellachi into it.

Take the grated coconut in a frying pan and fry without oil till it is light brown.
Take out the fried coconut and mix it with Idli granules.

Indian vegetarian recipes - Making of Syrup

Take the required amount of sugar in a pan and add water till it covers the total sugar. Heat the sugar and keep on stirring till you get bubbles in the syrup. Then add the Idli granules and coconut mixture into the syrup and keep on stirring it.

Take out the pan and allow it to cool down.

Start making round balls out of the mixture. Meanwhile put oil in another frying pan and heat on a high flame, till it is hot.

Now put the ball which are already made into the rice and biri dal paste to make a cover for sweet ball and put one by one ball in the oil. See that the balls are not joined & fried in the oil till it is slight brown in colour.

Take this Andhra recipes sweet ball and serve it hot.

This sweet ball"Boori" can be stored for one week in freidge.

    Thank you very much friends , Boori is made of four dals, dal means proteins.Very good for health.
