Indian Recipe : How to Make Homemade Indian Mixed Fried Rice in Easiest Way
Popular Indian Food Recipe Series
This is one of the popular dishes of Asian countries. People of Asian countries prefer to have rice as their daily meal and rice is one of their favorite main course meals. There are various types of preparation of rice, which are very popular and delicious too. Fried rice is nothing but rice with some extra spice. The actual method of preparing this rice is very lengthy and difficult process. I have tried a simplified process of preparing this delicious dish. With the help of this method it won't take more than 20 minutes of your time to prepare this delicious dish.
Serving: Serves 4
Time of Preparation: 30 minutes (maximum)
Ingredients: These all ingredients are listed based on four serving plates. If you want to prepare little more or less, you need to adjust the amount of ingredients accordingly.
- Basmati rice - two and half pound.
- Boneless, skinless chicken cut into small pieces - one fourth of a pound.
- Eggs - two.
- Shrimps - 20 pieces, medium size.
- Red and green pepper cut into small, but long pieces - 1 medium size each.
- Carrots - two in numbers, cut into small, but long pieces.
- Green Beans - 15 to 20 in numbers, cut into small but long pieces.
- Peas - half cup.
- Soy Sauce - one tablespoon.
- Vinegar - 1 tablespoon.
- Grama Masala (Mixture of cinnamon, cardamom and cloves) - one tablespoon
- Jaifal (ground nutmeg) and Jayitri - one tablespoon
- Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), also known as Azinomoto - half tablespoon.
- Unsalted butter or Ghee - Half cup.
- Vegetable oil as required.
- Salt to taste (require very less).
- Sugar to taste.
Know the Ingredients: It will be better to give you little more information about the ingredients I used for this dish. The ingredients are all Asian spice.
Basmati Rice - This is very popular rice with a good aroma. The size of this rice grain is long but small. This is readily available in any Indian store located near you.
Shrimps - You should collect half cooked shrimps.
Grama Masala - This is a mixture of cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. The readymade mixture is available at any Indian or Asian store.
Jaifal (ground nutmeg) and Jayitri - These are two Asian spices, mainly used for aromatic purpose. As per WordWeb the definition is something like this "East Indian tree widely cultivated in the tropics for its aromatic seed; source of two spices: nutmeg and Mace".
Ghee - This is a kind of butter made from milk through a chain of processes. It is very famous for its nice smoothing aroma. The western version of this can be unsalted butter. Ghee is available in any Indian or Asian store.
Process: There are two phases of this preparation.
Phase - I
- Put little oil in frying pan and fry the chicken pieces and add soy sauce at the last. Keep these fried chicken pieces into a bowl for later use.
- Fry the Shrimps in same way as we did for chicken pieces and keep these fried shrimps for later use.
- Add Eggs in a pan with little oil and fry them so that they become small pieces after got fried. Keep them aside for later use.
- Put little vegetable oil (2 tablespoons) in a frying pan and let it hot first and then add the Ghee. We should not put Ghee directly into the hot frying pan. It will help Ghee to burn out very quickly. So please be careful when you are using ghee.
- Add green beans and carrot and fry them up to half way and then add green & red pepper and peas. Fry them in low flame.
Now we will go to phase 2.
Phase - II
- Boil the basmati rice and drain the excess water. Keep the boiled rice in a large bowl so that you can stir it promptly. Making rice may be little difficult task.
- Now add all fried ingredients we prepared in phase-I into and mix the rice very well.
- Add Ghee, salt, sugar, Garama masala, Jaifal (ground nutmeg) & Jayitri, Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), fried chicken, shrimp and egg pieces.
- Mix these all ingredients very well. Try to be little careful when you mix all these together. If you mix them rigorously the rice grains can be broken and the shape of the rice grains will be lost. So try to keep the shape of rice grain.
Once you mix them well the mixed fried rice is ready to serve. We can have this rice preparation with Chilli Chicken or any other chicken side dishes.
