Growing up in Western Pennsylvania myself, it was nothing to spend at least two weekends a month at the gorgeous park.
Whether it was to go fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, or even Camping.
As a young child my parents would begin our trip to the park by parking the car in the allotted parking area for visitors. We would all venture toward the picnic area where we could enjoy, volley ball, basketball, a playground and a swimming area with life guard. A snack stand was always open to enjoy hotdogs, soft pretzels, nachos, ice-cream, popsicles, and all the great food you wanted as a kid!
The fishing area is a must see, the most beautiful scenery. Relax and fish and enjoy the day by the water. I caught my first fish ever at the age of two years old at this park.
As a teenager we would round up our money and go boating on the lake, the boat had a grill and a cooler supplied for us to take a picnic lunch. The park allows you to rent a boat or also, take your own. You may even pay to have your bout, docked there for your convenience.
Hiking was amazing. The trail offers a way to connect with nature, have some alone time, or even family time. I've seen and experienced so much on ventures hiking this trail. You may, walk, jog, and also ride your bike.
Camping at the park was so much fun. The park allows you to camp in a few different ways. You may camp in the designated spot for a motor home, tent, or in a cabin.
The cabins are heated, with electricity and 2 bunk beds. Three single beds and one queen size bed. Has a front porch attached, with a picnic table. The cabins allow you to have privacy in your own little area. Each have a fire pit and a secluded area below that for you own fishing spot. You may buy the fire wood for your fire also.
The park offers many fun filled, enjoyable activities for the your whole family. Please click on the sites listed below for more information.
