Indiana Fiddlers' Gathering

A One of a Kind Summer Festival

Beth Anderson
One of my favorite summer festivals in Lafayette, Indiana is the Indiana Fiddlers' Gathering. This event usually takes place in June, and for 2010 it will be held on June 25-27. The Fiddlers' Gathering is a fun family event that offers a chance to hear traditional fiddling and enjoy a night of dancing. The Fiddlers' Gathering is held at the Tippecanoe Battlefield Historic Park in Battle Ground, Indiana. Ticket prices fluctuate depending on the day. According to the official website (www.indianafiddlersgathering.org), cost for the Friday night concert will be $8.00 at the gate ($6.00 in advance) for adults, and $5.00 at the gate ($4.00 in advance) for young adults age 13-18. The Saturday afternoon concert tickets will cost $10.00 at the gate ($8.00 in advance) for adults and $5.00 at the gate ($4.00 in advance) for young adults age 13-18. The Saturday evening concert will cost $12.00 at the gate ($9.00 in advance) for adults, and $5.00 at the gate ($4.00 in advance) for young adults age 13-18. Weekend passes are also available for adults at a price of $30.00 at the gate ($25.00 in advance), and for young adults at a cost of $15.00 at the gate ($12.00 in advance). Children 12 and under are free to this event. The Fiddlers' Gathering also offers workshops on Saturday and Sunday morning for fellow musicians. Also offered on Saturday morning is a children's concert at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning, there will also be a free gospel concert at 10:00 a.m. Ample parking is available in lots on site at the park. The Fiddlers' Gathering offers a variety of fiddling bands from all over the country, and is a great chance to sit back under the stars and relax while listening to some very talented musicians.
