Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

Harrison Ford Reprises His Famous Role as Indiana Jones

Janet
1981 - I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark. I was young and easily impressed. I knew I liked the adventure and surprises that both startled and amazed me. That was 27 years ago.

2008 - Indiana Jones, Crystal Skull - brought me nostalgia of the 1981 Raiders and memories of what fun going to the movies should be. I was pleased to be reminiscing past Indy movies while still being as captivated and surprised as I was 27 years ago.

FAMILY MOVIE

I took pre-teens to watch Indy Crystal Skull and was glad there were no over sexed scenes or language issues. The violence was offered only through necessary plot and not just a direct shot to someone's head. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the movie and this was worth the money we paid. This movie is rated PG13 for Adventure, scary images and violence. Parental caution should be noted.

TEAM INDY'S INFLUENCE

Spielberg's fascination with 'Area 51' adventure is still alive and well, as is his Close Encounter, (1977) extravaganza, which is indicative throughout this movie.

I liked the 1950's setting, as it was reminiscence of Lucas' American Graffiti, (1973) especially in the beginning car racing scene, which is pinpointed to Lucas' style. Also true to Lucas is the Extra-Terrestrial, (1982) adventures which complete Team Indy's ideals and sense of team collaboration that could only be done between Spielberg and Lucas.

MUSIC

True to the Indy Team is composer, John Williams whose musical ability has span six decades. I immediately noticed how modern the Indy theme has become. Complete with marching orchestra and use of current music mixing equipment. I lack the musical vocabulary to truly write of Mr. Williams' masterful score. However, I will tell you I stayed until the very end (closing credits) closed my eyes and was completely dazzled by the flutes, horns, and strings, which danced in my head in complete and total friendship and nostalgia, reminiscences of younger days with a modern flair. I predict an award for Mr. Williams and I would like to be the first to congratulate him for bringing Indy music up to date and I was glad to be along for the ride! Thank you!

I was also glad to see Karen Allen back as Marion Ravenwood as it reminded me time has indeed passed.

My only real question is...why did it take so long for a sequel?
