Indiana Teenager Named Trendiest Teen in America 2007

Teen Trend Magazine, the newest magazine for teens ages 12 - 18, held a contest in search of the Trendiest Teen in America. Teen entrants had to submit an original entry of their choosing, answering six different questions and including two different photographs. Hundreds of teens entered from all over the United States and came from a variety of backgrounds. However, only one could win the title.

The lucky winner this year is Laura Gray, a 16 year old honor student from Ligonier, Indiana. "As soon as we saw her entry, we knew that she would be our winner," said Teen Trend Publisher Juliette Marotta. Gray's entry consisted of a mock magazine called "Trendiest Teen" and followed the layout of Teen Trend Magazine. The 28-page magazine featured a photograph of Gray on the cover and included information about her life, as well as her answers to all of the questions.

"It was brilliant, really," said Teen Trend Editor-in-Chief Candice Cain. "This kid has everything going for her, and she presented it to us very well. She deserved to win." Laura is no stranger to winning. She has entered and won many scholarship pageants, including the Miss National Teen-Ager Pageant, of which she holds the title Miss Junior National Hospitality. She has also won several Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Awards, and even made Ligonier history by being the youngest person chosen as Ligonier's Citizen of the Year.

It comes as no surprise that this young woman shined in this contest. Gray is incredibly involved in her school and community, working as a volunteer for several organizations. She enjoys drawing, playing the piano, singing, reading, swimming, playing tennis, playing volleyball and many other activities. Gray calls her Great-Grandmother Katherine Wagner, a Hungarian immigrant who became a doctor, her role model. Gray hopes to one day be the first Miss America from Indiana.

As the Trendiest Teen in America, Gray will receive a trip for two to New York City where she will participate in a professional photo shoot. She will be featured on the cover of the Oct/Nov issue of Teen Trend, as well as be that issues Girl Next Door. Furthermore, Gray will receive a plaque prize pack from the Trendiest Teen in America sponsors, including BeneFit Cosmetics and JanSport.

Gray also has the opportunity to win the Trendiest Teen in America 2007 People's Choice Award. Voting is open on the Teen Trend Magazine website, located at www.teentrendmagazine.com, where the top three entrants have their photo and bio along with a poll. Voting ends at midnight on June 30, 2007. The winner will be announced no later than July 15, 2007.

Gray is the first teenager to win the Trendiest Teen in America contest since the inception of Teen Trend Magazine in 2006. Because Gray won this contest, the Teen Trend Magazine 2008 Prom Showcase Series will have its finale at Stardust Reception Hall in Aurora, Indiana.

Yay! As a born and raised Hoosier. I think that it is nice to show America that even us Midwesterners ( is that word? LOL) do have style and follow fashion. :)
