Indianapolis is the host city for the NFL's yearly crowning glory, the Super Bowl. Super Bowl XLVI will be played in Lucas Oil Stadium on Feb. 5. The Super Bowl Village will be open from Jan. 27 through game day.
Super Bowl Village is a 10-day extravaganza in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. Georgia Street is being transformed into a veritable paradise for NFL fans.
Lots of free concerts will be presented on the two stages set up on each end of the village. Emmy award recipient Zuri Hall will emcee several shows, including performances by Cynthia Layne and Orquesta Bravo.
Lots of opportunities for fun and games are also featured in Super Bowl Village. One continuing event will be the Super Dash. This will utilize two very large human powered hamster wheels that will be used for an inter-divisional progressive competition. Each day the 100-yard dash times will be recorded, with an overall winner announced on game day.
You should plan on seeing the ice sculpture talents of Randy Finch and Derek Mansfield from the Ice Brigades show. Both will be demonstrating their talents throughout the week.
There will be plenty of places to eat and drink. Most of the village is under cover, and there will be warming stations overhead in case you need to fend off the winter chills. The Village is free to enter, and Park and Ride facilities make access a snap.
Even if you don't have tickets to the big game, come on to Indianapolis for a bit of Super Bowl flavor. Check the official website for details.
