India's Ruling Party Unveils Strong Security Agenda, While Obama Goes Soft

India's home Minister Chidambaram said "The security situation in South Asia has deteriorated very, very sharply," citing attacks and violence in neighboring Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

He also added that "We are in the middle of a ring of fire," according to the AFP, referring to India being surrounded on all sides by countries where attacks and violence has increased

He went onto unveil a strong security agenda, one that would take on the terrorists who try to attack the Indian soil, defeating them before they succeed, preventing a repeat of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

As we all know, India is the largest democracy in the world. Just like Israel, India has suffered numerous terrorist attacks on its soil, most of which are sponsored by terrorist groups hiding in neighboring Pakistan. The Home Minister of India clearly recognizes the fact that India is a target for militants from neighboring countries and just announced that he is putting forward a new "war room" set-up to handle threats. He also just announced that it is in their agenda to set up increased maritime security measures that can stop any terrorists entering through the ocean from neighboring Pakistan, as they did during the Mumbai Attacks.

While the Indian ruling party is to be commended for this strong anti-terrorism approach / agenda that they are proposing, it is notable that the unveiling of this strong anti-terrorism agenda from Indian ruling party is happening at the same period in time when the ruling party in United States of America is trying to extend olive branch to "what they call" the moderate factions of the Taliban.

This strong anti-terrorism agenda from Indian ruling party is being announced at the same period in time when the ruling party in United States of America announced that it is going to close the terrorist camp in Guantanamo Bay without announcing any plans on how and where they are going to be release the world's most dangerous terrorists, with no other country willing to take them back (let us not forget these are terrorists who planned to murder hundreds of innocent civilians).

This strong anti-terrorism agenda from Indian ruling party is being announced at the same period in time when the ruling party in America seems to be taking a softer stands on terrorists and using a pre-9/11 mindset in forming future policies.

This strong anti-terrorism agenda from Indian ruling party is happening at the same time when the ruling party in America is labeling its own country as "Arrogant" for acting tough on terrorists in the past.

This strong anti-terrorism agenda from Indian ruling party is being announced at the same time when the President of United States is trying to please the Islamic Jihadist's by saying "Islamic faith which has done so much over centuries to shape the world -- including in my own country," according to Fox News. Historians are struggling to find a single proof of what the Islamic faith has done so much to shape our country, the United States of America, in the past 100 years and what Obama was referring to when he said that. (All due respects to the religion of Islam, it may be a good religion no doubt, but saying that Islamic faith had done so much over centuries to shape United States is extremely far-fetched and submissive, when all we had was the 9/11 devastation by the Islamic extremists.)

While after the Mumbai attacks, the Indian officials proved successfully that the most efficient way to extract information from a terrorist and prevent further killing of thousands of innocent civilians is to use torture methods and harsh interrogation on already captured terrorist(s) who committed the act (like Terrorist Azam Ameer Qasab of Mumbai attacks), the American ruling party says it doesn't like harsh interrogation techniques and torture of terrorist to extract information that will prevent terrorist attacks on American soil.

Well don't we wish our ruling party is at least as strong as the Indian ruling party on the issue of fighting terrorism, given there are more Jihadists in the world who hate America more than they hate India?

Hi, your friend Tina sent me over! Great bunch of articles here, altho' I will not be able to take time to comment on each one. Times they are a'changin. I see America taking on many aspects of third world countries under this new administration. Going soft on terror is just ignorant. If we close Gitmo, these terrorists can work on forming sleeper cells and converting other prisoners from within their own prison cells in America's other jails.
