Launched in December 2005, TradeKing offers online brokerage services for active stock and option traders. The site ranks high in brokerage rating surveys, and provides investors with wonderful tools to make informed decisions about their investments.
Investors love TradeKing for a number of reasons. First, there are no account minimums. This means you can open a brokerage account with as little as one dollar. In addition, you are never charged for inactivity.
Second, the prices are low. One of TradeKing's biggest advantages over its competitors is its pricing. The company charges only $4.95 for stock and exchange-traded fund (ETF) trades-one of the most competitive prices offered by any brokerage firm. For option trades, the company charges $4.95 per trade, plus 65 cents per contract. The fees are the same for market, limit and broker-assisted trades, whether online or over the phone.
TradeKing offers a "Trader Network," an online forum community, which allows users the opportunity to discuss what they are trading and why. The company also hosts monthly webinars that are free for members.
Recently, TradeKing announced that it has signed on new "all-star" educators to help retail investors spot breakout trends in 2010. According to the company's website, the experts, Alan Brochstein (accomplished investment blogger and founder of AB Analystical Services), Robert Franklin Smith (a veteran of the Chicago Stock Exchange) and Quint Tatro (renowned stock analyzer through Tickerville.com) will join TradeKing through its Trader Network community forum to share strategies on technical and fundamental stock analysis.
TradeKing also ranks the top three participants based on their one-month portfolio performance and displays their returns (with the participants' permission) on their home page.
Investors also love TradeKing because of their excellent customer service. The firm's site boasts that in SmartMoney's 2008 and 2009 brokerage firm surveys, not only did TradeKing earn the highest rating for its trading tools, but also for its customer service. Customers appreciate the fact that there is a dedicated phone service as well as an online help desk (with live chat) to aids them during their trades.
With the extensive amount of information and social networking available on TradeKing's site 24 hours a day, investors can be well equipped to make money in the stock market.
