Indoor Birthday Party Ideas for Kids

When winter hits, any parent north of Texas has got a get a little creative when it comes to birthday party ideas. Stumped on what to do with your indoor party? Check out the following ideas.

While your own kid may not be great at entertaining herself for more than an hour or two at a time, a group of kids can keep themselves busy for hours. Indoor birthday parties shouldn't be rigid. Instead, use the following ideas to create a stress-free birthday party where kids are free to have fun, but also free to simply hang out.

Painting

Every kid is an artist. While some are much artistic than others, almost every kid loves to give art a shot, especially when it involves messy materials. For this indoor party idea, be sure to set up a tarp of some kind underneath your work table (which should also be covered in an old tablecloth). Pour your paint into a dozen or so small bowls, depending on the number of kids. You'll want to ensure that each kid can reach all of the colors. Have plenty of paintbrushes, sponges, and stencils, as well as printable coloring pages and designs for your indoor party. Before the kids arrive, print out pictures of butterflies, aliens, animals, flowers, or superheroes and place them on the table. Include glitter, glue, and confetti. Make sure to let their parents know to have them wear dingy clothes. Another idea is to visit a thrift store and buy a handful of old aprons or t shirts for the kids to wear.

Face Painting

Face painting is another fun indoor party idea that will thrill just about any small child. If you aren't particularly artistic, find out if another parent or older sibling is. Ask them to volunteer as the face painter. Or just let the kids paint each other. You can also use small stencils to help create your art. To be safe, ensure the paint is non-toxic. Take pictures of the kids. Print out the photos and create a fun photo book that you can mail to them after the party.

Craft Making

Another idea is to make winter crafts for her indoor birthday party. Make light bulb penguins found HERE or newspaper snowflakes found HERE. Make Christmas snow globes like those found HERE.
