Indoor Rock Climbing in Northeast Ohio

Rock Climbing is a dangerous sport, which includes serious injuries and death. Health Day has stated that over 40,000 injuries were reported between 1990-2007 from rock climbing. Indoor rock climbing is the safer way to go. Not only do you have the right gear to protect you, but you are surrounded by trained professionals for accident prevention.

Adventure Center, Indoor Rock Climbing Wall

Adventure Center is located at the Kent State University in Kent Ohio. They have 12 different stations and a 40 foot wall. You must obtain a membership or be a guest of an already member to enter. You will need to take a safety and skills test first, and the cost is $25 for non-students or $15 for a member. You will also learn a variety of techniques and how to's in their classes offered to you at $15 to $25 each. You can rent all your gear there.

Student Rec and Wellness Center Climbing Wall
The Student Rec and Wellness Center located at the University of Akron has a 53 foot rock climbing wall. To gain entrance, you must be accompanied by a member, and be atleast 18 years old with a goverment photo I.D. You can use your own approved equipment or rent your equipment there. Cleveland Rock
The Cleveland Rock is located in Euclid Ohio and they offer a variety of price packages. There are individual one day, family one day, 5 day, 10 day, one month, four month, and yearly passes. There is a Top Rope area, Boulderings area, and a weight and excercise area (must have a membership). For the general public, you may visit Tuesday through Friday, from 4 to 10pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 10pm. If you are inexperienced, you must first request a visit day in advance. If you are experienced you can visit anytime, and will have to pass a quick test first. Classes are available from $18 to $80 each and there must be a reservation first. YMCA Climbing Wall & Gymnastics

The YMCA Climbing Wall is located in North Canton Ohio, and is available to anyone ages 6 - adult. There is not experience required to enter, and offers a great birthday or group party rock climbing entertainment. There is an 18 foot wall with 8 climbing stations. You can use their equipment there. Open climbing is available on Sundays from 3 to 5pm. If you are interested in the YMCA, visit their website at http://ncgymcenter.org/.

Youngstown State University Indoor Rock Climbing Wall

The Youngstown State University offers an Indoor Rock Climbing Wall in their Andrews Recreation and Wellness Center in Youngstown Ohio. Bouldering Competitions are held here on this 35 to 40 foot wall.
