Indubitably Black

S. E. Masters
Black is the color
That lets you see white
How would the moon shine
If there were no night

For classy occasions
Where formal attire applies
There sometimes strict requirements
For evening gowns, limos, and the black tie

Just look at our people
A variety of color are we
Some will say the sweeter the juice
The blacker the berry

That's not being vain
Its just a fact
The color with more impact
Is indubitably black

Black isn't the skin
Love for black is in our hearts
God created day
But he first created dark
Therefore, only God's marvelous light
Can out-shine darkness
Not white

But even if you ain't black
And be seen clear through
You do have a black shadow
That sticks very close to you
I don't recall seeing a shadow that wasn't black

The strongest coffee is black
The Phantom, Batman, Zorro, even Dracula
Would just be regular ole boys without black

What I merely seek to imply
Is that there is much more to black than meets the eye

But there are those who will still snicker
And look at us with disgust
They often forget that this strong beautiful black skin
Cover all of the dirt that has been done to us.
