Ines Sainz, Are Women Who Wear Sexy Clothing Inducing Acts of Sexual Harassment?

Claire Luna-Pinsker
Ines Sainz, a lady sportscaster from TV Azteca based in Mexico, somehow allegedly was involved in an accused case of sexual harassment against her when she was in the New York Jet's locker room after practice. It was reported by, ABC news, in New York that, Ines Sainz was subjected to inappropriate locker room antics considered to be filled with sexual innuendos. At this date no charges are being filed but the Jet's legal team and managers are addressing the issue with their team. The water cooler conversation is hot on this topic.

Ines Sainz happens to be a very attractive woman, a former Miss Spain, and also competed in the Miss Universe pageant. Inez Sainz allegedly has a, "My Space," page that some would say reveals very provocative bathing suit photographs on it. Ms. Sainz happens to wear clothing that some would consider being too sexy and provocative in appearance for the playing field while working as a professional sportscaster. Ines Sainz as a sportscaster has job duties that include being around teresterone fueled sports players. But does her sexy appearance deserve sports athletes acting like, "wolves in jerseys," behavior? The answer is varied on this topic, pro and con.

Men are voyeurs, visual creatures, and when an attractive woman strikes a man's eye, it would be foolish to state a man doesn't notice, whether they're married or not. Physical appearance unfortunately is what we first view meeting a person. Horse blinders aren't automatically in place in committed relationships or marriage. Self-restraint and respect must be in place, to prevent anyone from crossing that line into behavior considered to be acts of sexual harassment.

Rape victims have in the past been accused of having asked to be raped, due to so called lawyers and juror's perspectives on what they believe are inappropriate sexy or scanty clothing worn by the victim. Thankfully this warped mentality is being addressed and a woman's appearance does not in anyway mean they're asking to be violently raped. A woman's personal life that could be considered promiscuous does not mean that woman is asking to be violently raped either. Rape is pure violence, and age, race, dress, or beauty of a woman doesn't matter to the perpetrator. Is Inez Sainz asking for violent sexual harassment acts because she dresses in form fitting, low cut, or short sexy attire?

Who declares what is appropriate clothing for a woman? What is considered to be too sexy or revealing on a professional woman sportscaster? Male sportscasters wear tailored fitted suits, revealing broad chests and massive bodies, making them attractive to a woman's eye. Most sportscasters are handsome, attractive for the television screen. For that matter the skin tight uniforms football or baseball players wear, actually leave little to the imagination. Ask any woman who enjoys watching sports, and ask them if they've noticed when players are in the huddle. Are women being sexual harassing because they admire a sports figure's physique? WWE is another sport where men wear form fitting spandex. I know friends who enjoy it for more than the wrestling main event.

The question should be is why Inez Sainz chooses to dress the way she does in a male oriented field? She has the absolute right to be there having acquired the job, but females in sports oriented fields still struggle to compete against men. Is Inez Sainz using her feminine graces in order to enhance her secure position on the field, and attract interviews with players? The Daily News in New York reported there have been other women sports reporters who faced alleged incidents of sexual harassment on the field while performing their jobs, in the case of, Lisa Olson, Suzy Kolber, and Hannah Storm.

Inez Sainz may dress too sexually inappropriate around the hormonal macho male dominated world, but in no way should her appearance invoke open incidences of sexual harassment. Professional sports figures should hold that position with respect which includes respect to all reporters.

In other third world countries, Inez Sainz probably would be arrested and stoned for her considered sexy attire, but we live in America. In America women share equal rights with men, and a women's taste in clothing may not be appreciated but it should in no way initiate unwanted acts of sexual harassment or sexual violence.

No matter what you wear harassment happens. Just like the article I saw a while back about 80 year old woman being raped in her laundry room. You'd think her age would have kept her safe from predators, but guess not

I do not think that there is ever an occasion to harass anyone, however, some of these women (girls) dress inappropriately and I agree with you completely - elsewhere there would be consequences for that. cheers, well done!

Women shouldn't be harassed nor should they dress provacatively in public either.

There is never a good reason that a woman should be harrassed while doing her job.

Boys will be boys--she wasn't groped or molested--if you don't want comments -dress a little more demurely. Otherwise-get over it!

I looked at some of the sites found in other articles above, and though they show her in some sexy outfits, I don't know what she was actually wearing in the lockerroom. Regardless, I agree, Claire. However a woman dresses, men should, at the very least, keep their comments and hands to themselves; and respect the woman and, in this case, her job.
