In the last decade gun violence has decreased. The Assault Weapon's Ban was lifted. The SCOTUS ruled that the Second Amendment is indeed as the Founder's intended - a right of individuals to own firearms. None of these events caused gun violence to climb as progressives often assure us will be the result. It's not the Wild West in America's streets as we were told would be the case. Almost every state passed laws granting "shall issue" status, meaning anyone who qualifies to own a firearm and goes through the hoops can get a permit to carry a concealed weapon and still no wild west shootouts. No vigilantism. The left assured us this would happen. They were oh so wrong....AGAIN!
Like the left's pushing for massive social welfare, more money per pupil to schools, demanding curbs on opposition political speech and all the rest, they are dead wrong yet again. The Earth is NOT warming as they swear. There is plenty of oil if they'll let us pump it. Coal is cleaner than ever and we have more of it than any other nation. And firearms and individual ownership thereof does not increase crime, no matter how many times progressives swear it does.
When will the non-sycophant finally see the light of truth and stop with the bandwagon jumping on of lamenting how bad it all is? If one does not wish to own a firearm that is their right and choice and I am all for that if that is what suits one. I own guns...lots of them. I buy more at every turn. Assault rifles...I have 7. Bolt actions...I have 3. Riot gun 12 gauge shotguns...I have 2. Handguns...I have 4 and sundry other weapons like my GSG5 .22 assault rifle and many others. And still I am not shooting people. And ammo? OMG! I will not tell ya how much I have but I guarantee if I said the number I would be able to hear the collective "gasp" uttered all the way to my house. As well the collective "do gooder" shaking in unfounded fear would register on the Richter Scale for sure.
What more proof does the public need that progressive reaction to almost any event is as predictable as the outcome of jumping off the roof and flapping one's arms to try and remain airborne? When will the public learn that progressive chatter is always aimed at their end goals - control? It's always crafted as concern and offering us the guiding hand of big government the Founder's so clearly warned us against.
As for my prediction of future progressive wishes in regard to firearms and all the associated issues, here's what I think we'll see on the horizon.
It is not secret that Obama has in the past expressed agreement on the concept of taxing gun and ammo sales, and not just taxing as in collecting sales tax. No, the taxation he expressed favor for was along the lines of the proposal someone made about taxing gun and ammo sales at 500%. Yep...five hundred percent, so not typo. See, isn't that a clever way to NOT deny anyone's right to own a gun? Just tax it so that you can own guns and ammo, but man will it cost ya. Gee...progressives favoring some new form of taxation, and in this case, as a tool of forcing compliance to their ideological wishes? Never could have seen that one coming, what?
Why, that would be like forcing crappy and progressive ideological health reform down the nation's throat, and assuring us it wasn't a tax, and then when having to go to court to defend the legality and right of government to force this event, they claim their right to tax. Yep, that's what government did in this case... well, progressive, Obama agenda government that is. When they wanted Obamacare they told us it was not a tax but when forced to argue and justify in court, the government's mouthpieces claim Obamacare isn't unconstitutional because it's a tax and SCOTUS has ruled government has the right to tax. See what I mean? Can you say HYPOCRITES?
Progressive's desperately tried to cause a de facto tax increase by letting the Bush cuts sunset, but the nation screamed in one clear voice and Obama retreated cause his reelection campaign is about to begin. Add in the drubbing last November and even obtuse progressives could see they'd lost - AGAIN!
Guess what I found out though in doing a lot of research on guns and gubmint? Did ya know the Federal paper work for gun sales only stays on file BY LAW for 30 days? I have a pal who is a Federal Firearms licensee and he assured me after 30 days the law demands all "official" records of gun sales be purged. Of course the FFL dealer has to keep the records on each sale for 20 years at present, but at least DC does not have a copy at their whim. I like it like that.
If I am judged legally eligible at the time of purchase, after 30 days the serial number and type of gun and in fact the record that I even purchased a gun is gone!
How will this work and CHANGE if Obama and progressives could get their wish and have every bullet with an etched in laser serial number on it? Then they would track ammo sales as a backdoor way to monitor and perhaps, in future, restrict or deny ammo sales. It's also a great way to justify massive record keeping and Federal bureaucracy and the needed Federal employees to monitor the program. See how every issue with progressives has some hope of taxing and growing government?
Well, at least they are consistent...consistently trying to chip away at the Constitutionally guaranteed liberties of every one of us. It's not their job to guide me. READ THE CONSTITUTION! It's pretty clear that is not government's function at all. But then they get all 'It's a living document" and I just wanna kill 'em, RHETORICALLY speaking. See and I even have the means and ability to do so, but still a gun nut like me ain't hurting anyone at all.
I am not the danger. What I want to eat isn't the danger. Guns are not the danger. Beck, Limbaugh and Palin are not the danger. Conservatism is not the danger. Government is the danger. And of course anyone advocating more government is the danger. I guess I'm just left to ask, "Does this shoe fit your foot?" Lameazoid!

Post a CommentI have an idea...why don't we really get down to enforcing the laws that were passed way back after the Ronald Reagan, James Brady shooting! And how about enforcing some laws that could do something about mental cases like Loughner before they act out?
For me (as one who lives alone), the point of having a firearm for self defense is to be able to access it quickly... what good is a "safety lock" going to do me if I'm fumbling with the damn thing when an intruder is invading the house? As for background checks, who on the right is arguing against them? I don't know anyone who is.
Well not to be rude, why don't right wingers want safety locks and background checks? It's to protect you and the public.
We're hearing the mumblings of gun control with every broadcast about the shooting in Arizona. Criminals always will have guns. As far as Marie Anne's comment, "Hey Sweetie, cigarettes are taxed at a huge rate. Of the $5 cost for a pack, less than $.20 is the cost of the cigarette with profit and advertising accounting for another $1, the rest is tax...and then you pay sales tax. I'm for taxing foods like McDonalds and Sugary products. More fat people get free health care than us smokers.
The gun didn't kill those Tucson people, Jared Lee Loughner did! How about making psychotic behavior and pulling a trigger illegal? How about convicting this guy in a court of law? If we blame the guns and let a judge let this guy go--both likely to happen--banning all the guns in the world won't stop the killing.
‎"The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." -Thomas Jefferson
If the left hits on this little gem, Jefferson will have caused the Arizona shootings.
Government will always always always overstep their limitations when allowed to. It is without fail, the natural evolution of government to degrade towards something akin to fascism. All it takes is a professional politician to realize a vote can be bought with someone else's money. Everything after that stems from their desire to protect their undeserved income and power. Power is a highly addictive drug.
"When will the public learn that progressive chatter is always aimed at their end goals - control?" Well said Whip. Control is their end goal. And David, how would you propose to "outlaw anyone who wants to have one of them"? Just asking...
Bullseye! It really ticks me off when a lunatic takes a gun and suddenly everyone is screaming, "gun control!" What if the madman had used a baseball bat and clubbed everyone? Would they outlaw bats? You gotta wonder, cheers :)
I am a gun nut without a gun at the moment, stuck with my war games, I wonder what the Liberals think about crazies like me who get a kick out of war games
