Inexpensive Activities to Enjoy Yourself

Inexpensive activities to enjoy yourself are little treasures waiting to be found and hopefully they will be discovered by the people who seem to be at a lost when it comes to enjoying life?

You know the people I'm talking about. The ones who devote their entire existence to their job. The ones that constantly tell you there is nothing to do, and the ones that won't retire because they claim they wouldn't know what to do with themselves.

There is plenty to do! All you have to do is look around you, and there are activities galore! But you have to want to discover them before you can see them.

So for those who may have a little difficulty finding inexpensive activities they enjoy, I've listed quite a few for you, and I have even separated them into categories so that you can focus on the one that interest you.

Educational:

1. Take trips to your library and browse through the books. Sit by a window that has a view, and read magazines. You are sure to find something you would enjoy reading.

2. Tour your local museums or go visit the ones in another city that's close to where you live.

3. Take a photography class at your local community college or vocational school.

4. You can also take cooking classes, computer classes and creative writing classes. The classes you can take are endless, and for your convenience, they are offered on Saturday.

5. Learn a foreign language.

6. Take acting lessons, or join a drama club.

7. Learn calligraphy.

8. Take sculpting and painting classes.

9. Visit used book stores.

Travel:

1. Take a day trip along the back roads.

2. Take a bus excursion to someplace you've always wanted to visit.

3. Visit a neighboring city, and stay at a bed and breakfast for the weekend.

4. Or visit a neighboring city, stay at a hotel, and let them treat

you like a VIP with spa treatments, massages and room service.

5. Tour you own city, and go to the places you've never been.

6. Camp out at your local state park, or rent a cabin.

Spiritual:

1. Make arrangements to stay at a religious retreat.

2. Volunteer your time to the local churches.

3. Participate in food drives.

4. Volunteer to help feed the homeless and hungry during the holidays.

5. Attend church services.

6. Explore the spiritual side of life with books and seminars.

7. Attend religious concerts.

Sports:

1. Play tennis or golf.

2. Plan a fishing trip.

3. Enjoy a day at the car racing.

4. Go play miniature golf.

5. Go swimming.

6. Attend summer training games for major league baseball.

7. Meet friends for a game of basketball.

8. Ride your bicycle and enjoy the scenery.

9. Watch high school sports teams practice.

Socializing:

1. Invite friends over for a cook out.

2. Invite friends over for pot luck.

3. Go out with friends for beer and a pizza.

4. Eat dinner at home, then take the family out for ice cream.

5. Have a girl's only tea party.

6. Have a guy's only beer party.

7. Have a family reunion.

8. Have friends over for a card game.

9. Have a movie night at home with popcorn and hotdogs.

Just Plane Fun Things:

1. Watch the planes take off at the airport.

2. Go for walks in the park, or along the beach.

3. Have lunch at the horse or dog track, and watch them run while eating. You can also place a few bets on who will win.

4. Pack a picnic and go to your favorite park.

5. Go purchase a ridiculously expensive item, then return it a few days later. Make sure the item can be returned!

6. Have lunch or dinner with friends in a neighboring city.

7. Learn how to do home improvement projects.

8. Start a vegetable or herb garden.

9. Go window shopping.

This list could go on and on, but I think you get the picture now. There are so many inexpensive activities to enjoy yourself, that you're bound to find a few you like.

Remember the object is to have fun without spending a lot of money, so choose your activities - then go out and enjoy life.

    Inexpensive is a relative term. Few people, well off or not, associate shopping with long-lasting and non-addictive fun. Is the author of the article a high-school teenager?
