Inexpensive Christmas Gift Ideas that Older Kids Will Love

Finding inexpensive Christmas gifts for older kids isn't too difficult, but finding inexpensive Christmas gifts that older kids will love can be a real challenge. However, there are lots of options out there for inexpensive Christmas gifts for older kids, especially if you get an early start on your holiday shopping. If you're looking for inexpensive Christmas gift ideas that older kids will love, consider the following suggestions.

Look for great deals on MP3 players. An inexpensive Christmas gift that older kids will love is an MP3 player. You might think that MP3 players are all expensive, but that's not true at all. The first set of MP3 players that we purchased for our children were only $20 each! A week later, the same model went on sale at the store we had purchased them at for only $15. We had intentionally chosen inexpensive MP3 players because our kids are still very young (the youngest was only 5 at the time), and we wanted to be sure they could handle them without breaking them in the first few days before we invested in more expensive models. One year later, not one of the kids has broken their MP3 players. What's more, is that they still use them every single day! So if you're wanting an inexpensive Christmas gift that kids will love and get lots of use out of, keep your eyes open for great sale prices on MP3 players. You can routinely find them for under $30, and I have seen them as low as $10.

Give gift cards for digital music. Whether the kids you are shopping for already have an MP3 player, or are receiving one as a gift this Christmas, a gift card for digital music is an inexpensive Christmas gift that kids will love. Songs typically cost about $1 each, and if you can't find a gift card (check Best Buy) for digital music in the dollar amount that you want, simply print up your own note to stuff in a stocking, letting kids know they can spend whatever dollar amount you allot on digital music.

Check around for reasonable sale prices on video games. When looking for inexpensive Christmas gifts that older kids will love, don't rule out video games. You can find used, popular video games at stores like GameStop. Also, check Ebay for low prices on video games. Additionally, big box stores often have fairly low prices on certain video game titles. They won't be the newest, or most popular, games out, but they can still serve as an inexpensive Christmas gift that an older kid will be happy to receive.

If the kid you need to buy for is a movie lover, pick up a DVD or two. Again, big box stores are often the best places to find great deals on popular movies. DVD's can be found for anywhere from $5 and up. If you need to find an inexpensive Christmas gift for an older kid, movies can be a great solution.

Consider a chess set. Chess is a game a lot of people love, and chess sets can be found in the toy department of stores like Target and Wal-Mart for $20 and under. Some of these are really basic, but others are fairly nice, and some are even sold as combination games. These types of sets will include other games like backgammon and Chinese checkers, as well.

You can't go wrong with movie theater gift cards. Just about every kid loves to go to the movies, so naturally a gift card to the movie theater is an inexpensive Christmas gift that an older kid would love to get. These can be purchased online at Fandango or the Regal Cinema website. Be sure to find out first what type of movie theater the kid you're buying for would be going to, though, such as AMC or Edward's (Regal), because Fandango bucks will only work at specific theaters. If this sounds like to much hassle, then just head over to the theater the child will be using his gift card at, and simply purchase the gift card at the window. It's really easy, and only takes about 5 minutes. How many Christmas gifts can you say that about?

If you've got a photo lover, give them a photo album. It may seem like an unconventional gift, but for a kid who loves photos, a photo album is an inexpensive Christmas gift that they can get a lot of use out of. To make it more fun, wrap it up with tons of photos that you have taken of them over the years, so they can get started on their album right away.

As you can see, even if you have to choose inexpensive gifts for the older kids on your list this year, there are still several options for giving gifts that they will love.
