Christmas should be a joyful time of year, but many people find themselves stressed out. One of the major factors of holiday stress is money. If you have a large group of friends and family to buy for, you can easily become broke or even in debt. One way to keep the cost of gift giving at a minimum is to host a Christmas Gift Exchange Party. Here are some tips on how to throw your own Christmas Gift Exchange Party.

Clothing exchanges are great. You can basically get a whole new wardrobe for free. The way a clothing exchange works is that you ask your guests to bring any articles of clothing they no longer want, fit, or need. You will search your own closet and dresser drawers as well for clothing to add to the exchange. Once the clothing has been laid out, guests will search through the clothing to find pieces they would like to keep for themselves. Any leftover clothing can then be donated to a local charity. A Clothing Christmas Exchange Party can be a great way to give and receive the gift of a new (to you) wardrobe.

You can host a "garage sale" in your own living room. The only difference, besides the fact that you will conduct business in your home rather than out on the lawn, is that all of the items are free. Ask your guests to bring several household decorative items that they no longer want or need. Scour your own home for items to add to the "garage sale" as well. Allow everyone to pick out a certain number of items which they can take home. Any leftovers can be donated to the local Goodwill. Hosting this type of Christmas Gift Exchange Party allows you to give and receive the gift of a newly decorated home.

There are many different types of recipes for Christmas cookies. You may have a recipe for Christmas cookies from your great grandma, an online recipe website, or cut out from a magazine that you wish to share with your family and friends. You can host a Christmas Cookie Recipe Exchange Party in your home to share this recipe with family and friends and to discover new cookie recipes you haven't tried before. Each guest can bring a plate full of delicious Christmas cookies along with the recipe they used to create them. Guests can rotate from plate to plate to sample the cookies and if they like, take home the recipe on how to make them. Hosting a Christmas Cookie Exchange party is a delicious and inexpensive way to give and receive the gift of new recipes.

Coupon swaps are a great way to get coupons that you need in exchange for the ones you don't. You can host a Christmas Coupon Exchange Party in your home using this idea. Instead of actual coupons you can ask guests to bring coupons in that offer their services. Each guest can offer one service and make up several coupons to give to other guests. Different ideas for services include: preparing freezer meals, weeding someone's garden, babysitting someone's child(ren), etc. The gift of someone's time is one of the best gifts that someone can give or receive and can be given by hosting a Christmas Coupon Exchange Party.

Challenge your friends to make their own gifts by hosting a Homemade Christmas Gift Exchange Party. Homemade gifts are inexpensive and can be fun to create. There are many different homemade gift ideas that you and your guests can easily create for one another. Homemade gifts can be more personal and more appreciated than store bought gifts. You can find many ideas for homemade gifts by doing an internet search. Items from nature can create beautiful holiday wreaths and centerpieces, homemade spa treatments are easy to create, or you can create homemade jar mixes to give as gifts. Hosting a Homemade Christmas Gift Exchange Party can save you and your guests some money by giving and receiving wonderful homemade gifts.

Try hosting your own Christmas Exchange Party in your home this holiday season as a fun and inexpensive way to get together with family and friends to exchange gifts. You just may be able to stay within your holiday budget while giving and receiving gifts everyone is sure to appreciate.

Wonderful ideas. I once when to a Christmas card party. There were all kinds of arts & crafts supplies and we all sat around and made handmade Christmas cards while eating snacks. There was a lot of laughter and talking going on.
