Inexpensive Christmas Paper Shopping in Central Maine

Inexpensive Christmas Paper Shopping in Central Maine - We are all thinking about where we can tighten or decrease our holiday budget this 2008 shopping season. Wrappings, bows and tags can be an expensive part of gift giving. Lower your cost by finding every day bargains at stores that specialize in low cost items. Keep the fancy decorations on gifts to a minimum with less costly bows or none at all. Save on the cost of tags and make your own by cutting up wrapping paper remnants while you wrap. I've done this for years. If you are a Mainer here are some stores to get good deals on your gift wrapping paper this year. They are not in any particular order.

Reny's Department Store can be found in 14 locations around the state. You should not wait if you plan on shopping at this popular one of a kind store because Christmas items sell out fast. You will find paper from 1.99 a roll and up. This unique family owned business has been in operation since 1949.

Mardens Surplus and Salvage can also be found in 14 locations in Maine. Their inventory and prices vary day to day. You can expect great deals here. Wrapping paper will be in the 1 to 2 dollar and up range.

Family Dollar Stores are found all over the state of Maine. You will find wrapping paper rolls and flat packages. The gift wrapping paper generally costs from 1 to 3 dollars at these budget friendly stores.

Dollar Tree has stores all over the state of Maine. Gift wrap will be one dollar here.

Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart and other mass merchandisers are all over the state. They have bargain priced Christmas paper from $1.99 and up.

Mainers are known to find alternatives to the wads of wrapping paper that is crammed into garbage bags on Christmas day. We wrap gifts in recycled comic pages from the Sunday paper, free local newspapers and tissue paper nestled in gift bags purchased at Reny's, Mardens or Family Dollar. A great 'evergreen' alternative to gift wrapping paper is a piece of cloth for a person who sews, a dish or bath towel that is welcome and usable. Sheets, blankets and tablecloths make great wrapping material too. Use your imagination and Christmas them up with yarn and fibers a crafter can reuse.

Another good idea, although it won't help you this year, is to buy it after xmas when it's on sale for pennies a roll. Then store it away for next year.

I get whole huge rolls at the Dollar Store for a buck each.

Dollar Tree gets some good stuff. I don't go often, but when I do, I always hear someone asking "How much is this?" b/c they can't believe the prices.
