Fashionista

A child who likes to play dress up or wants to be a model may enjoy being a "fashionista" for Halloween. The child could wear any kind of dress from something trendy like tie die to a fancy type dress. Then create a banner out of white felt to drape across the child and write the word "fashionista" on it with a magic marker.

Butterfly

Find felt in a pretty yellow, blue, or orange. Cut out the shape of a butterfly out of four pieces of felt. Use a large needle and embroidery thread to sew together the two front pieces with a piece of stiff poster board in between them. Repeat this process to create the back half of the costume. Then use strips of felt to attach the front and back of the costume. Then use superglue to add some glitter to the front of the costume in various colors to give a shimmer to the appearance of the butterfly. Wear leggings and a t-shirt under the costume.

Red Hot Heart

Love is always an emotion that brings a smile to one's face. So create a costume of a red hot heart candy and your kid will gets lots of smiles as he or she is out trick or treating.

Create the shape of a large heart out of two pieces of red felt. Use a large sewing needle and embroider thread to setw the two pieces together with a stiff piece of poster board in between the two pieces of fabric. Then repeat the process to make the back of the costume. Link the front and back of the outfit with strips of red felt sewn on to the front and back of the costume. Wear leggings and a t-shirt in black or red under the costume.

Shamrock

Use the same technique described above to create a costume out of green felt. This costume will be a big hit in families who are Irish or just like the thought of some Irish good luck.

Other Fun Ideas

Other costumes that may be made following the same technique as that used to create the Red Heart costume are a costume depicting: their favorite book, a spider, the state you reside in, a note of music, the Liberty Bell, or a cupcake. Think about things the child likes and many cute costumes could easily be made out of felt.

Field of Daisies

Create a front panel about 3 feet wide in dark green felt. Sew together two rectangular pieces of green felt with stiff poster board in between them. Then create flowers on the felt by cutting out petals in white and a center to the flower in yellow. Sew the petals, stem, and flower center onto the green felt or use superglue to attach them. Use a pale shade of green felt for the stem of the flower. Add at least 5 daisies to the dark green felt to create an image of a field of daisies.
