Inexpensive & Earth Friendly Laundry

An Eco-cheap Cure for Killing Those Creases

Kerry Mulherin
None of us like to do the laundry particularly, but it has to be done.I find that the best trick is to hoard it and wash only once or twice per week.Make sure your water heater is turned down to as low as possible first for obvious reasons. When using hot for your laundry ( if you really must ) you won't need it to be boiling your clothes anyway. If you can use cold water and no hot , all the better.

In your final rinse, whatever you're washing, put a cup full of white vinegar into the tub while it fills, this reduces the amount of ironing you will need to do.When finished, remove your load of freshly washed jeans and hang them all in the bathroom. As everyone takes a shower the steam will let them hang their own wrinkles out.Presto!

An important point to note,if possible, iron at night time as the electricity is cheaper then. An iron typically uses as much electricity as 15 x 100 watt light bulbs!
Make yourself a hot cup of tea and watch a movie as you iron to conquer the monotony element of this inspiring procedure.

I generally hang t-shirts and undergarments onto hangers right out of the spin cycle, then simply put them in the closet when dry. They really aren't that scratchy, besides, the vinegar helps with that problem and you won't need to kill the dryer , the atmosphere and a packet of nasty chemical based dryer softener sheets.
