Inexpensive Gift Ideas for Your Teen Niece

Megan Butler
There are few things more frustrating than trying to figure out what to buy a teenaged girl. But you can relax this holiday season because I've got a list of the best gifts for teenage girls. Read on for the top teenage gifts for under $50.

Sterling Silver Charm Bracelet
This is a great gift idea because your teen niece will be able to tailor it to fit her taste. Check out www.rembrandtcharms.com for a variety of chains and charms. I recommend buying a chain, and just one charm which will run you about $50 total. And the best part is, you can buy her a charm for her birthday and other holidays so you won't have to read an article for gift ideas again.

A Journal
Being a teenager is rough, and its good for teens to have somewhere to write down the drama that is their life. Include an inscription on the inner flap to make it feel more personal. Check out Barnes & Noble or a bookstore in your area for a variety of options that will range from $20-$30.

A New Driver Kit
New drivers are excited about anything related to cars. Check out www.abernook.com. They have a cute new driver kit which includes everything your teen will need on the road including an emergency kit, flashlight and dashboard dancer (all in really cute designs of course). This kit will run you about $40 and will let your niece know that you care.

Mani/Pedi Set
Nobody loves grooming more than teenaged girls. Get your tween daughter a manicure set with lots of different colors and gadgets. They are easy to get at any department store, but I'd check out www.amazon.com for the best deals.

Body Shop Body Butter
Older teen girls will especially appreciate this gift. They'll also appreciate their aunt for introducing them to a life long love affair with Body Butter. This stuff is awesome, and if you've never tried it, I suggest you pick up a few tubs yourself. It is a skin moisturizer that should never be called a lotion. It is so much more than that. I recommend the Nut Butter ($20), but it comes in a variety of extracts. Check out www.bodyshop.com for more details

iTunes Card
Teenagers love their iPods, and keeping up with their favorite music can be expensive. Your niece can use her iTunes to buy music, add games to her iPod and sign up for Podcasts. You can actually get these cards near the register at most stores like Target and Wal-Mart, but check out www.iTunes.com if you're having trouble finding them.

Magazine Subscription
Get your teenaged niece a year-long subscription to her favorite teen magazine so she can stop bugging her mom in the checkout line. Seventeen or CosmoGirl make great options. You can go to Hearst magazine's website for the subscription, but I don't recommend it. www.amazon.com offers the very same subscription for a much cheaper price (about $10 for the entire year).

Gift Cards
Let's face it. Its nearly impossible to please a teen. No matter what you do, you run the risk of giving her the gift on a bad day, or accidentally buying what she loved last week but hates this week. Tradition may say that a gift card is impersonal, but tradition probably never had to shop for a teenage girl.
