Inexpensive Gift Ideas for Unexpected Guests at Christmas

Tfurby
You never know who might knock on your door unexpectedly during the Christmas Season bearing gifts. Are you prepared? Having found myself in this embarrassing situation in the past, I vowed I would not be caught unprepared again. I always like to have a few inexpensive gifts, wrapped and placed under the Christmas tree just in case unexpected guests should arrive.

The key to buying inexpensive gifts, for unexpected guests, is to buy something that you or one of your family members, need or would like to have, so that the item will be useful, if no unexpected guests happen by. I also try to keep the price of the gift under $10.00, so that you are not spreading your Christmas budget to thin.

DVDs

This is a good choice for adults and children alike. Choose a comedy that is suitable for the entire family, this way you cover both bases. This gift can be given to either the adult or a child. You can find a wide selection of DVDs at Walmart for $5.00 and up.

Scarves and gloves

A nice scarf and glove set, combined with a matching stocking cap, is a good inexpensive gift idea for the unexpected guest. Choose a neutral color that will be suitable for a male or female. The same could apply for a child's set.

Homemade gift baskets

This is a very inexpensive gift idea that would be appropriate for an entire family. Use your imagination. A 2 liter soft drink, a bag of microwave popcorn, a bag of chips and family movie placed into a large plastic bowl, then wrapped in colored saran wrap with a bow tied on top. This gift for a family, will cost less than $10.00.

Home baked gifts

You usually have an abundance of home baked cookies, cakes, and pies at Christmas time. Why not make a few extra for a very thoughtful gift for the unexpected guest. The homemade delicacies could be placed in a decorative tin that may be used again and again by the person who receives it.

Coloring Books, Crayons and puzzles

These are very inexpensive and also come in handy helping to occupy those little ones, who my be a part of your unexpected guest's family. These items are usually priced at a dollar apiece, so you can't go wrong by placing a few of these under the tree.

I have oodles of stuff on hand because I have an open door policy at my home and I always end up with lots of extra people! I prepare extra good bags in advance and do not have to worry anymore! I love to have something for every single person who stops by!

I hate that unexpected guest at christmas time. I always have to run out and get them something so that they have a gift under the tree. Wonderful ideas here.
