Buying gifts for a baby during the holiday season can sometimes be difficult. Infants are not yet requesting popular toys and very young children are not yet able to play with very many objects. Infant gear such as swings and bouncers are expensive for the casual gift giver and these larger items are usually already owned or reserved for gifting by close family members. The key to giving a gift to a baby is to think creative. Gift givers should think more about what a baby needs rather than what will entertain. Here are five gift ideas for babies that the infant will use and the baby's Mommy and Daddy will really appreciate.

1) A decorated gift basket of baby supplies is a nice idea for a baby present. Filling a festive basket with items like diapers, baby wipes, baby soap, diaper rash ointment and other items uses on a regular basis will be a hit with Mom and Dad.

2) Undershirts, socks, and onsies are items that babies need on a daily basis and that need to be washed frequently. These items make a great gift for a baby. Gift givers can purchase onsies and undershirts with cute designs or sayings to make the gift more interesting.

3) Rattles and teethers are always an option for gift givers buying a present for a baby. It is important that individuals purchasing these items make sure that the teethers and rattles are safe for a baby's use as these items will most likely go straight into a baby's mouth.

4) A gift basket filled with baby food, baby cereal, infant utensils, biter biscuits, and other such items make a nice gift for an infant. Like the baby supply basket the food basket can be decorated to fit the occasion.

5) Individuals with musical talent can make a recording of soothing songs for a baby. Not only is this a gift that can be cherished for years it is a great way to show thought and effort was put into the gift.
