Inexpensive Green Christmas Decorations: Find Great Ideas Here

Cleaning the Environment with These Green Christmas Decorations

Lori Lane
If you are wondering, just how am I going to go green this Christmas, perhaps this will help. Here is an easy guide to green Christmas decorations. Biodegradable? That's the question to ask when purchasing a Christmas tree. Artificial trees tend to be petroleum based. Not good for the environment, not good to use. With the many options to Christmas trees, it is favorable that you would find a living tree, at an affordable price. That's where Christmas tree farms come in.

Christmas Tree Farms

A place where you can find the Clark Griswald family Christmas tree since some farms carry trees that reach into the double digits. Pops-N-Sons Choose-N-Cut Farm in North Carolina offers 15 ft. trees, and taller depending on tree growth and span. Trees are not the only thing these farms offer, some are visited by Santa, cocoa and coffee stands, wreath sales of plenty with garland by their side, and the fresh scent of Pine, Cedar, Fir, Cypress, and the other types of trees that are freshly cut.

Recycled and Biodegradable Christmas Tree Ornaments

Instead of purchasing a new box of Christmas tree ornaments, it's either yard sale time, or time to visit a box of old ornaments. Taking a box of ornaments off of someone's hands is a great passing, however make sure that the ornaments are not so old that they contain lead, or any other dangerous material. It would be wiser to choose ornaments that are no longer than five years old, always made in the USA.

Biodegradable Christmas ornaments are also a great green decorative idea for the Christmas tree. To further offer choice, you can either strand popcorn onto string, you could make Gingerbread Man cookie ornaments (by hole pre-made in cookie before baking), you could also poke a pinhole into an eggshell to empty it out, wash it, and glue a hook onto it after you have decorated it with safe green egg dye. The ornaments crafted can always have a small green bow attached, to show your "green" support.

Recycled Energy Saving Lights

Recycled is important when going green, so perhaps shopping at Ebay.com is not such a bad idea to shop for the latest in lights. Christmas trees would appear empty without Christmas lights. LED lights help save on electric usage by up to 80 to 90%. Not bad savings during the cold winter months when electric costs are said to rise. LED lights can be found online.

The 11M 60 LED Mix-CORLOR Solar String Fairy Light Garden (#400008590764) is a beautiful strand of warming lights. With the colors being red, green, and blue, the radiance shine for the low-price of $18.99 (shipping being $9.99 - sold on Ebay.com). And there's the catch. Some places online are not that great when you add the total in cost. You would want to shop at a place that isn't going to charge so much in shipping. It sours the pot of hope. However, other places are excellent to shop at.

Target Stores and Upcoming Deals

Take Target for instance. Times are tough during these hard economic times, and Target, like other big businesses, are suffering in some form or another financially. Deals are already upon the table of merchandise to stay afloat and in business. Target announced during the mid-month of November of 2008 that the store may be offering deals to compare with other stores (Walmart being one) doing much better than Target. Keep an eye out for Target price-cuts on decorative LED lights, and any Christmas decorative need that you may desire. Take advantage of the holiday deals, another great way to save on going green.

Black Friday Updates

The word is spreading like a virus, and there is only one cure...shopping! Black Friday is coming up fast, and with the economic results, thus far, the reports through news media are slowly unfolding. Shoppers get ready, Black Friday has surprises awaiting you. What each business has up their sleeves is kept sealed shut, with one key, no witnesses. When Black Friday gets closer, you will hear of some incredible deals. Some businesses decided not to wait, as they share large percentages off of merchandise already. It would be good planning to ask what that store is offering when it comes to Black Friday, and while you are there, see if the Christmas decorations that are offered on sale may save you from waiting. Remember, the decorations may not be there when you go back to purchase them.

With all of this at your disposal, you should have a very nice green Holiday Season.
