Inexpensive Holiday Gift Ideas for Women

Monica Bullock
Holiday traditions like gift exchanges can really wallop your wallet and leave you feeling less than charitable. If you have several women on your list, you might be tempted to buy expensive gifts like packages from the perfume counter, jewelry or a stunning sweater. Instead of breaking the bank this holiday, give inexpensive gifts that are meaningful and even elegant. Shop for these smart ideas and put a smile on both your faces.

Throw Pillows

The best gifts are the ones you would not buy for yourself but love receiving. Throw pillows fall under this category of beloved gifts. Buy her a decorative throw pillow for her bed or couch. For fun, choose a red or green pillow that has a Christmas theme. Fringe, tassels and other embellishments make throw pillows attractive accents for a home. Pick a pillow that says, "Peace" or "Holiday Greetings" embroidered or cross-stitched on one side. If you like crafts, you could make the pillow yourself. Gifts made just for her are heartwarming presents.

Decanters

Purchase inexpensive glass and crystal decanters from dollar or department stores. Fill the decanters with scented bath oils and cheap bath salts, or make an infused olive oil. The decanter should have a decorative stopper. Tie a ribbon around your glass gift and wrap it in tissue. Small decanters work best and will look pretty anywhere she places it.

Ornaments

Christmas ornaments make a welcome gift for holiday lovers. Shop for ornaments that represent her hobby or some special interest she has. Plastic and ceramic ornaments are the least expensive to purchase. Buy one or a whole set of ornaments. Buy a set of glass ornaments and use a calligraphy pen to write special messages on them.

Christmas Candles

Pine-scented green or cinnamon-scented red candles set in interesting, glass candle holders are practical gifts the woman in your life can use right away. You can never have too many candles, especially during the holiday season. Buy her a set of candles that includes votives, pillars and mini pillars. If you know she uses a candelabra, buy her some dripless, taper candles for her dining room table.

Slippers

Every woman should have a brand new pair of fluffy slippers for the holidays. Give her a pair of novelty slippers to wear on Christmas or New Year's morning. Big, white, fluffy slippers with pink bows on the toes will keep her feet warm and make her feel pretty. Ballerina-style slippers in any color will look dainty on her feet. Give her slide-on or backless slippers to wear all around the house.
