Inexpensive Ideas for Christmas Traditions

Most people these days are trying to save money and stick to a strict budget that does not always allow for those extras we would like including the ways we celebrate holiday such as Christmas. There are still ways you can have nice Christmas traditions without spending a lot of money. Here is a guide to some inexpensive ideas for Christmas traditions.

1. Decorate a Christmas tree together. No matter if you want to get a real tree or put up an artificial tree you and yours can get into the Christmas spirit by decorating it together. To make it extra special put some Christmas music on in the background and be sure to take pictures. You are not just decorating your tree, you are making memories!

2. Schedule a Christmas movie night. Get some cheap take-out and get together all your Christmas favorites for a movie party with your family and friends! Some good choices are National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, A Christmas Story and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Your family and friends will love this fun tradition and look back on it fondly.

3. Check out your local Christmas parade or festival. Most towns either have a Christmas parade or some type of festival that you and your family can attend. Parades are free and the most you may have to pay for is parking. People young and old will enjoy this type of tradition and it will give you the chance to see your town decorated to its best!

4. Go for a drive to look at Christmas lights. Get everyone bundled up, put on a Christmas CD in the car and head out to see all the beautiful lights and decorations in your town. All you are paying for is the gas in your car for this relaxing tradition. This is a favorite amongst young children as they see all the beautiful lights.

5. Volunteer somewhere together. No matter if you have younger children or not in your family you can practice a great tradition of one of the best feelings you can get at Christmas which is the spirit of giving. Head out to a local nursing home, hospital or shelter to help out. Another option is taking your family to get a gift for the local Toys for Tots. Your kids will love getting the chance to play Santa and imagining the look on the child you are shopping for will make it all worth it in the end!
