Stacy Hensley
Decorating your home for Halloween can be fun and quite expensive. There are ways to have spooktacular decorations without going broke. Here are a few cheap ideas for decorating your home for Halloween.

Halloween Decorating Idea #1-Pumpkins

Pumpkins can be found at decent prices and are a good good Halloween decoration choice. You can carve a spooky face on your pumpkin and add a candle for a haunting lighting effect.

If your carving skills aren't very good, you may want to check out this great site. Pumpkin Carving 101 has information about anything that has to do with pumpkin carving. You can find out about choosing the right pumpkin, carving tools you will need, stencils, and lighting information and tips.

Halloween Decorating Idea #2-Spiderwebs and Spiders

Creating spiderwebs is a cheap and easy way to decorate your home for Halloween. You can purchase quilt batting and stretch it out thin to make it look like a spiderweb. It can be placed in corners and around the windows. You can also hand it from the ceiling or on some of the furniture.

Adding some plastic spiders to the spiderweb will give it the right touch of spookiness. Most dollar or department stores carry the plastic spiders around Halloween.

Halloween Decorating Idea #3-Ghosts

Ghost decorations can be made easily with just a few items. You will need some tissue paper, a marker, and thin string.

  1. Crumple some tissue paper into a round ball.
  2. Place another tissue over the ball so that it hangs down.
  3. Tie a piece of string around the tissue paper underneath the ball, This will create a head and body.
  4. Use a marker to draw a ghostly face.
  5. Tie a string om the head so that you can hang it from the ceiling.
You can get creative with these ghosts and try making them with different colored tissue paper. Kids enjoy helping make these.

Halloween Decorating Idea #4-Family Photos

Replace your family photos with photos of people from horror movies. Imagine the looks on the faces of your guests when they see photos of Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Frankenstein, or Count Dracula in your home.

Halloween Decorating Idea #5-Lights

Lighting plays a big role in decorating for Halloween. You can buy strings of lights that have pumpkins, skeletons, bats, and witches at most department stores for a reasonable price. I like to buy colored light bulbs and use them on my porch and inside. Yellow, orange, and red bulbs are my favorite colors to use at Halloween. Black lights and glow sticks are also good lights to use for Halloween.

Candles are good to use as long as they are used safely. Keep them in places where they can't be reached or knocked over.

Be creative and have fun decorating your home for Halloween.
