Movie Night
A classic winter activity for indoors is a movie night. Popcorn is inexpensive, and you can watch movies that are already on the television or rent a couple of movies. Make sure to have a bunch of inexpensive treats like candy, cookies, ice cream, chips, and dip. Provide blankets and pillows and dim the lights for this fun winter activity.
Summer in the Snow
Just because it's freezing out and snow is everywhere it does not mean your family can not pretend its summer. Turn the heat up slightly and decorate the house with palm trees and flowers in reminiscence of the summer time. Design a meal that is perfect for summer, have fruity drinks, and ice cream. Play tropical music, and wear Hawaiian print shirts and shorts. Limbo and dance competitions are a fun addition to this
Pie Eating Contest
Another indoor activity for families in the winter is a pie eating contest. Start by baking your own pies from scratch, or purchase pies individually. Miniature pies are inexpensive and they come in a variety of flavors. Have everyone line up with a pie in front of them. When the alarm sounds, everyone should start eating.
Indoor S'mores
Making S'mores always reminds me of camp outs, but S'mores can also be made indoor in the oven during winter. Simply place the graham crackers on a cookie tray and put marshmallows on half of them. Bake for about 3 minutes. Add chocolate on top of the marshmallow and place another graham cracker on top. Remove from cookie sheet and let sit for about a minute.
Cook-off
Another fun winter activity for families indoors is a cook off. Write appetizer, salad, dessert, entrée, and soup on different pieces of paper. Fold them and put them in a hat. Have everyone pull a piece of paper and make their own special meal. You can also divide into teams for younger children. Enjoy the meals you have made together. This fun family activity is great for winter because it will keep the house warm and everyone happy.
Inexpensive activities do not have to be done outdoors in the winter. These winter activities are a great way to spend time with your family in the winter.
