Number 3: The Chicken Pie Shop
2633 El Cajon Blvd
San Diego, CA
(619) 295-0156
The Chicken Pie Shop has been in San Diego ever since I was a kid, and the incredible and great thing is that there prices have never changed. At the Chicken pie shop most of the meals are under $10. There Signature dish which is their Chicken Pie is only $1.50 if you purchase it individually, and for the meal is $4.50. It's like the good old days where you could actually get a hearty meal for under five dollars and it's not junk food. You may ask well how big of a meal is this if it's for only $4.50? Well the Chicken Pie dinner comes with a chicken pot pie, coleslaw, veggies, mash potatoes, a dinner roll, and a piece of your choice of dessert pie. Now if that's not a real country meal then I don't know what is. Another plus about this diner is that not only is the food good but the restaurant is a pleasant environment as well. The theme is chickens and everywhere in the restaurant is decorated with them. Also since the prices are like they were 20 years ago and so is the restaurant in the sense that they have a old school cash register and only take cash. Don't worry though I'm sure you can find $5.00 in your purse or wallet somewhere.
Number 2 : Ruby's Diner
1640 Camino Del Rio N # 360p
San Diego, CA

Now if you want a Burger Ruby's Diner is the place to go. There menu mainly consist of Burgers (an American favorite), but they also have sandwiches, salads, and other great menu options. There Burgers are very creative and caters to different types of personalities. The Burgers range from a Aloha Burger which consists of teriyaki glazed with pineapple, to a Santa Fe Burger which consists of green chili pepper, jack cheese and chipotle sauce. Ruby's theme is 1940's and offers and is decorated like a dinner back in the 1940's. There meals usually cost under $10.00 and definitely satisfies your appetite.
Number 1: The Corvette Diner
3946 5th Ave
San Diego, CA
(619) 542-1001
The number 1 best Diner I believe in San Diego is the Corvette Diner, and the name definitely says it all. This diner is all about the 50's and Corvettes. It has great food, entertainment, and the best theme. Outside the restaurant is valet parking for a few dollars. Then once inside you can join in on the eating, singing, and dancing. The restaurant has actually corvettes inside and its own 50's dj that plays all the classic songs like Sugar Sugar. Plus every hour the waiters and waitresses come together and perform a dance routine for you. At your table your waitress or waiter may throw straws at you and if it's your Birthday they will give style your hair in straws. It's a very unique experience. The best part is obviously the food. They serve burgers; fries, pasta salads, soups, and the best part are the Milk Shakes that come in every flavor, color, and taste. So if you want a fun exciting and also non-expensive place to eat at go to the Corvette Diner because it's well worth it.
