Lemon
Believe it or not, but lemon helps lighten hair. Simply squeeze three lemons or so (depending how long your hair is) and make lemon juice. Take that lemon juice and run it through your hair generously. Go outside into the sun and spend at least two hours there. Read, get a tan, do whatever you want. Just make sure you wear sunscreen! After two hours, go back inside and wash the lemon out. You should be able to notice a small difference but in order to really lighten it, continue repeating this process for a few more days. Stop using when the color is the desirable shade.
Chamomile Tea
Chamomile is another way to lighten your hair. Make Chamomile tea (simply by boiling water and soaking a tea bag), and also apply generously to hair. Just like lemon juice, go outside into the sun for a while. Does it work better than Lemon juice? I can't say, as I have only tried lightening my hair with lemon. But I heard it works just as well.
Bella Lightening Gel
Okay, for this method you have to buy a bottle of Bella Lightening Gel. I have found that is this method works best simply because you apply it on, and it does the work for you. Although it does work better in the sun, you don't necessarily have to spend time outside. What's also good about this gel is that you can create highlights for yourself. Choose the strains of hair you want and style it as you typically would. There are two things you should know about this gel. One-it doesn't have the most pleasant smell. But wash your hands and the smell will gradually leave your hair. And two-it is not recommended on African American hair. Though I had a hard time finding this product, I was able to purchase it from Amazon.com for less than six dollars. And again, you can control how much you want to lighten your hair by putting some on every day until desired color is reached.
And these are a few tips to lighten your hair. It's cheap, it's convenient, and it creates results you want. Good luck!
