InFamous Review (PS3): A Near-Perfect Game

S.R.
inFamous is an Action Adventure game released on Playstation 3 and developed by Sucker Punch. Don't let the silly company title fool you, this is a seriously impressive game that deserves your notice. Let's go over why.

Story : The story in the game is actually one of the main reasons to play it. Basically, a horrible disaster strikes the city you live in and half the population in it are killed. The blame is solely being placed on you. The government has quarantined the city. Everybody in it hates you. What's next? It's entirely up to you. You can choose to set things right or revel in destruction.

Graphics : The graphics in this game are simply amazing. Wonderful and full of life, the detail in everything is quite stunning. Compared to other games being released today, inFamous is actually better. When you look at high quality of other games, that's saying something. The comic book style of the game really got me into it and it should do the same for anyone with a pulse. Overall, a stunning game graphically.

Sound : The music is really ambient and isn't something you notice often, but it does it's job well. The sound effects are really good, and the lightning sounds especially are extremely good. While there really isn't anything sound wise to blow you away, what is here is very serviceable and gets the job done.

Game play : The controls are extremely well done and more important, very easy to learn. The learning curve in this game is quite small. Remembering how to do things Will became second nature very fast. Controls should never be difficult, and this game realizes this very quickly. The normal missions provide a suitable level of challenge, as do both the side missions and all the other extra things you can do. The levels are nicely designed and have a good variety. The levels can be quite long but none are overtly so, making the levels just very engaging. The sheer variety in the number of actions is really quite impressive and is worth nothing.

Re playability : The replay value on this game is huge. You can play as both a good or evil character, and that alone will makes you play it at least twice. Even harder is attempting to straddle the middle line, which will make the game very interesting to say the least.

Overall : 9/10. This game is near-perfection and offers a huge amount of fun. It's not all that original, but takes what's tried and true and pulls it off perfectly.
