Infant Minnie Mouse Halloween Costume

Zana Quinn
Minnie Mouse has been charming us for 80 years. She made her debut in the 1928 animation Steamboat Willie as the paramour of the most famous mouse ever, Mickey. Together, Mickey and Minnie defined romantic comedy animation. Mickey ends up peeling potatoes due to his hilarious attempts to serenade Minnie while he was supposed to be working. The duo was magic and Minnie would appear in 73 more cartoons. She has come to be known for her soft-spoken manner, distinct sense of fashion, and long eyelashes. 80 years later she is still one of Disney's leading ladies. Along with Mickey, Pluto, and the rest of the Disney gang she has appeared in various modern cartoons and memorabilia. Kids today recognize her large polka dots and high heels. People often refer to ladies' caps that look like hers as "Minnie Mouse hats." To celebrate Minnie's 80th birthday, you can dress your infant as Minnie Mouse for Halloween. Just tap into Minnie's unique sense of style. Here are the main components of a Minnie Mouse costume and how you attain them.

Minnie Mouse Ears, Arms, and Legs

Looking like Minnie Mouse begins with looking like a mouse. We'll start with the ears, arms, and legs. Minnie Mouse ears are inexpensive and widely available. Celebrate Express offers them for $4.99 at CelebrateExpress.com. You could also create the ears yourself by attaching black felt circles to a thick headband. Don't forget a large bow. The arms and legs can be achieved by wearing black knit clothing. My personal choice for creating the legs would be a pair of inexpensive black tights that you can find anywhere, but the knit pants may be more feasible for the mom worried about diaper changes. Choose which method would be most comfortable for your baby and your wallet.

Minnie Mouse Dress

After you have the mouse body taken care of, it is time to add Minnie Mouse style. You can create Minnie's trademark look with a polka-dotted dress for your baby. You don't have to restrict yourself to the red dress with white polka dots. Any polka-dotted dress will do as long as the dots are large. Most retail stores offer a variety of polka dot dresses. Choose one you like and match it to the rest of the costume. A white dress with large pink polka dots would go great with matching pink heels.

Minnie Mouse Heels

Heels? Yes, heels. Heelarious offers high heels for babies! These soft crib booties with heels sewn onto them come in hot pink, zebra, leopard, and black. The spokesbaby for Heelarious looks like Minnie Mouse in her high heels and polka dotted dress. These heels will make your infant's Minnie Mouse costume the talk of the town. They are $35.00 per pair and very comfortable. Your baby will get great mileage out of their first pair of heels! Heelarious heels are worth the splurge for the sheer memories they'll make, but if you cannot afford them, opt for a soft baby slipper instead.

Minnie Mouse Make-up

You can use Halloween make-up to give your baby a Minnie Mouse face. Paint her face yellow with a black nose. Then draw long eyelashes at the corners of her eyes. If you are worried about your baby's allergies, then just giving your baby a black nose will be sufficient.

Minnie Mouse Accessories

Minnie Mouse's famous accessories are her white gloves and her hat. A soft pair of white mittens will do the trick, and even give your baby something to chew on to amuse herself. Any rounded hat will work. Just hot glue long-stemmed flower to one side.

Now you have your own little miniature Minnie Mouse!
