The carriers are used for infants and are sold under the name "Sling Rider" at popular department and baby stores.
If you own one, stop using it with your baby and check with the manufacturer to see if it's part of the recent recall.
Continuing to use your infantino Sling could result in falls and injury of your child as reports of the plastic piece snapping have occurred.
Visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website for pictures and information to verify if your carrier is one of the recalled baby slings.
Their website is: www.cpsc.gov and click on the recall section.
Then contact Infantino to see what the current policy is regarding recalls of their product so that you may get a replacement or your money back.
Infantino makes the Sling Rider carrier and the company headquaters are located in San Diego, California. The actual product is manufactured in China.
The concern regarding the voluntary recall involves the plastic slider piece that is used to adjust the strap on the sling. It can break off, causing your infant to fall and possibly be injured as a result.
This is a serious concern as injuries and other incidences have occurred.
Infantino received 10 reports of the plastic piece coming apart, breaking off and 8 of those cases involved babies falling out of the sling. 4 of the infants reportedly were rushed to the emergency room with head injuries and 1 of these poor babies fractured her skull.
Recalled Infantino Slings were sold between July 2006 and February 2007 for around $30 each.
Stores selling them included Target, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, B.J.'s wholesale Club, and other retailers including many online stores that carried them in stock or ordered them for customers.
The Recall includes Infantino SlingRider baby carriers with the item numbers:
141-210; 151-210; 151-528; and 151-534
Popular colors of recalled slings are Khaki or Black and the fabric has the label Infantino printed on the plastic slider piece which fits onto the shoulder strap. The item number can be located inside the carrier.
Infantino Sling Riders NOT included in the recall are ones that say "Made in Thailand" or "New 2007 Design" labeled inside the carrier on the inner fabric.
Infantino has a toll free number and can be reached at 1-888-808-3111 anytime from 8 am through 4 pm Pacific Time Monday through Friday or visit their customer service website at:

Post a CommentYes! Do not use it! We bought one a few years ago from them and it broke with my infant daughter in it. I nearly dropped her on the floor. I called them and they said they were pulling them and then sent me a huge box of toys to try to make it right.
Wow, that's scary. This is why I'm glad I made my own sling and wrap... I know the materials I used, and they won't break. Good article.
Thanks for writing this article.
