Infomercial Product Review: PedEgg Professional Foot File

Robert Borden
I've always had a problem with rough skin on my feet, and I find that I have to file the bottom of my feet on a regular basis to keep them feeling soft and smooth. Until recently, I just used a "traditional" foot file that had an emery board feel to it, and it always worked out just fine. Then one day I was watching television and I saw the commercial for the PedEgg professional foot file. This small, egg-shaped tool implemented a metal foot file and promised to catch all of the dead skin neatly inside. I always hated how messy filing my feet was, so I decided to call and order the PedEgg and give the product a try.

With one PedEgg plus shipping, it cost almost $18.00. There was a special deal where I was supposed to receive two PedEggs for the price of one, but I never received the second one which was a little bit upsetting. The first few times I rubbed the PedEgg over my foot, no dead skin was removed. I found that you needed to apply more pressure with a PedEgg as opposed to a regular foot file for it to actually work, and the process was tiring after awhile.

Once I was applying the correct amount of pressure, the PedEgg did indeed begin to remove the dead skin that had built up on the bottom of my foot. But it definitely did not contain the shavings neatly in the PedEgg as was shown on the commercial. Instead, there was a mess everywhere. It was even messier than my regular foot file which only cost me $0.99 from Avon instead of the eighteen bucks I shelled out for the PedEgg. I researched the problem on the internet, and I found lots of sites and message board postings that indicated that other PedEgg users have had the same problems.

In the end, I liked my foot file better than the PedEgg I had ordered from television, and it was a heck of a lot cheaper. The PedEgg removed only as much skin as my regular foot file did and it created even more of a mess to clean up. If you have seen the commercial and are thinking of ordering the PedEgg, you might just want to take a couple of dollars to your local drug store and buy a cheap foot file instead. • One PedEgg cost $10, but shipping can be an additional $8.00.
  • The PedEgg does not contain the mess of foot filing as promised.
  • In my view, the PedEgg is no better than a regular foot file.
