Information about the New Amazon Unbox

Amazon Unbox is for anyone who is interested in buying or renting movies, television shows or even sports that you can view on your own computer. You can also view them as well on your television through TiVo DVR. A great bonus with TiVo DVR is that Amazon Unbox will automatically connect and you don't have to worry about somehow having your television hooked up to your PC. Just download them and voila!

So how exactly does Amazon Unbox work? Let's say you decide to rent a movie. Whether you will be viewing this movie directly on your PC or on TiVo DVR, you have a certain amount of time to view it. It is usually 30 days unless it says something different on the details page. When you do however, begin to play that movie, you will have up to 24 hours to view it. You can stop it and come back later on to watch but it must be in a period of one day. Unfortunately you can not re-download this again. Once your time is up, it will be deleted from your PC or TiVo DVR. Now let's say that you would like to purchase a movie. This is obviously more expensive then renting but there is not a time limit and usually you can re-download.

What kinds of segments are available on Amazon Unbox? There is actually something for everyone. They have movies from just about every genre that you can think of including action, animation, drama, international, musical, horror and sports. These films come from major studios such as 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Brothers. They carry an array of television shows such as 24, Jericho, Weeds, The Closer and Prison Break just to name a few. Television networks include A&E, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, Comedy Central, BBC, Nick at Nite and Showtime.

So how much do segments cost on Amazon Unbox? On their site, Amazon boasts that customers can purchase or rent a movies with prices starting at just $1.99. So I took a look at these movies and a good number of the rentals are $2.99 and $3.99. I do see that they do have a weekend rental special (I don't know if this is common) where six films are featured and are 99 cents each. They aren't old films either. They have Music and Lyrics along with The Good Shepherd among others. Purchasing would be just like going into the store and buying a DVD. I see many of the prices at $9.99 as well as $14.99 for purchases. The majority of television episodes here are $1.99 (at least all that I've viewed) which isn't bad if you are in need of an episode that you missed.

Is Amazon Unbox for you? It might just be if you have a few extra dollars to spend and you don't feel like leaving the house. I think I might take them up on that weekend sale. I've been meaning to see The Good Shepherd and 99 cents isn't a bad deal!
