This is a term that you will always come across when you are shopping for internet service providers or when you plan to change your internet plan. This is one of the very important thing to understand when you are talking about internet plans or services. I don't want you guys to waste a lot of your bandwidth on this article so to cut the long story short, I will try to explain this in a few easy points.

- Bandwidth is the amount of data that can flow through a connection in a set period of time.

- Imagine a water pipe the bigger the pipe and stronger the flow, helps you get across more water in a short time. Well, it is the same concept.

- So, greater the bandwidth more data can flow through.

- It is measured in kb/second, mb/second and so on.

- Bandwidth is also a limiting factor for the technology that connects the computer itself to the modem or device interacting with the direct internet line.

- The most important thing you should know is that an Internet connection with a larger bandwidth can move a set amount of data much faster than an Internet connection with a lower bandwidth.
