Ingersoll Rand Review

As a Student of Purdue University, I get the privilege of hearing several guest speakers. Most of them are in corporate America. Many of them are even Purdue alumni. Recently, I attended a presentation given by an Ingersoll Rand employee. Prior to attending, I knew little about the company but now I have more insight. The guest speaker from Ingersoll Rand presented valuable information. He gave us good background about his company, their values, and his personal story. I found all aspects of it very interesting.

One thing about his presentation that struck a cord with me was how he was a psychology major that decided to go into business in graduate school. Up until my senior year of high school, I wanted to study psychology in college, but late changed my anticipated major. It let me know that there are ways to incorporate psychology in the business world. I actually think that is used a great deal, based on the information the guest speaker presented.

Another thing that stuck out in my mind was Ingersoll Rand's transition as a company; they are becoming less industrial based. Companies have to change with the times, and I can definitely see this company adapting to the current needs of customers. I wasn't familiar with the brand at all, and it was interesting to find out that they were number one and two in all of their markets. Once he began talking about the various aspects of the company, is was also useful to know that Ingersoll Rand doesn't just make Locks. They have other brands including Club Car and Thermo King.

I am also glad that I found out exactly what a talent manager does. I have heard the term "talent manager" used before, but I didn't have a clue about what talent managers actually do. Talent managers play a vital role in a company's overall success. It is nice to see a company that invests in nurturing the talent of their employees. They look at everyone as future leaders. Ingersoll Rand appears to be a company that hires employees who want to lead; they hire employees who have aspirations and goals.

I encourage all college students to attend presentations like this. They are beneficial. They offer information about various career paths and lifestyles. Many college students are not exactly sure about the precise direction they want to go in, career wise, so this kind of exposure is vital.
