Inglourious Bastards

Pulp Fiction in 1944 Without What Made Pulp Ficiton Cool

Hmm, not impressed with this one and this time it wasn't because it was a QT film...it was the lack of character arcs in the story...everyone starts and stops in the same place...when there was a chance for some change of a character, the oppourtunity was passed....the most interesting character and her story were given a very weak ending....Brad Pitt was just walking the dog the whole time...
There were three really good scenes, well, actually, there were several, none involving the actual Inglourious Bastards....
The opening scene is gold....the strangling scene is taught....all the scenes with the cinema owner are brilliant...and then the Inglourious Bastards come back and you are subjected to QT being QT.....

Compared to Black Book or Miracle at St. Anna's, this film pales hard...struggling to find a strange balance between comedy, thriller and drama...but never settling for one or the other or the other....

It's one of those films that if you like QT, you'll like this film and forgive all the blah blah blah about it....but inside this film, there is a solid 90 minute thrill ride waiting to happen....but the roller coaster keeps stopping for the conductor to tell you what an amazing ride it is...

watched it once - yes
in one sitting - no
watch it again - no
recommend it - no

(note: I was asked why I don't put 'paid to see it' as a statistic...simply because I don't often pay to see movies...because I review films for the local radio I get screeners and free passes....I don't feel "would I pay to see it" is viable as an option...)
