Ingredients for a DIY Aspirin Facial

Elizabeth V. Miller
At-home facials can be a fun and cost-effective way of periodically rejuvenating your skin and giving it a baby-fresh start. There are millions of at-home facial remedies and recipes using lemon, egg, mayonnaise and so on. Another popular ingredient for facial masks is aspirin. YouTube Gurus such as Michelle Phan and Ginabinawina99, along with many others, have tackled making their own aspirin facial mask tutorials in video form. Here's a step-by-step guide incorporating various schools of thought for how to make the perfect aspirin facial mask at home.

Collect Desired Ingredients
For this mask, and many others, there is obviously going to be some leeway in which products you opt to use. While aspirin, water and honey are typical, adding in part of a mashed up avocado or a couple squirts of your favorite store-bought mask can add a soothing bonus to your homemade concoction.

Combine Aspirin and a Few Drops of Water
Using three to five non-coated tablets, place the aspirin in a small bowl and add a few water droplets to instigate the disintegration process. Further break apart the tablets using a finger or utensil of your choice.

Add Honey
Add a few squirts of honey until the consistency is that of a thick paste. Mix thoroughly, ensuring the aspirin particles are evenly dispersed throughout the mixture.

If Desired, Add Some Avocado
Including the use of mashed up avocado or a bit of a prepared facial mask can add to the soothing nature of your homemade blend. If aspirin and honey are too harsh on their own, throw in a little something extra of your choice.

Apply Evenly
When your facial formula is just how you want it, apply evenly to your face making sure to avoid the eyes. Let sit for as long as desired or until the mixture hardens.

Wash Off and Moisturize Afterward
When ready, fully wash off your exfoliating mask using water. Applying a favorite moisturizer will be beneficial in preserving your newly fabulous skin.

I had heard of avocado but the other ideas were new to me. Great ideas and tips. Great reminder to moisturize after. Thanks.
