Inn at Playa Del Rey Works Well for the Business Crowd

Beachside Bed & Breakfast is Perfect for Entertaining Clients

I recently stayed at the Inn at Playa Del Rey, which is six miles from Santa Monica California. A female business owner built the inn back in '95 and the facility is operated by an entirely female staff. The Inn at Playa Del Rey itself consists of a series of rooms and suites designed to emulate the feel of home. Even though it's a short distance away from LA, I could easily forget where I was and imagine being back at my aunt's house in Indiana.

The atmosphere at the Inn at Playa Del Rey is stunning. Night owls linger on into the morning hours and looking into the eyes of those creatures never stopped amazing me. The breakfast room is painted a delightful sunlight yellow and stocks the usual continental breakfast: cereal, muffins, fruit, coffee and juice. A beautiful archway leads into a wide living room packed with big, fluffy chairs and comfortable sofas. The sunset at the Inn at Playa Del Rey was great to view through the many windows and made more enjoyable with the wine and cheese they serve at happy hour.

The Inn at Playa Del Rey has a prime location. It's easily accessible from the freeway and stands between Play Del Rey and Culver City, making it just a few minutes from LAX airport. If you're visiting the area for entertaining business clients, then it's proximity to Santa Monica and Marina Del Rey will come in handy. Though it's approximately one mile from the Playa Del Rey beach, visitors looking for some sandy fun are better off heading north to the Malibu or Venice beach areas. Playa Del Rey exists on a single street, and not a whole lot ever goes on there, so people watchers have to look elsewhere.

As beautiful as the Inn at Playa Del Ray is, it does have its fair share of drawbacks. The location may be accessible, the parking may be free, the spaces plentiful, and the security high for the building, this Inn has some bad views and thanks to its proximity to Santa Monica and the freeway, there can be quite a bit of traffic noise. It might be great for those on business trips, but as far as romance or quiet time is concerned, you're not going to find much peace.

The pricing for rooms is fairly modest, running you about $185 per night or near $400 for luxury suites. These charges include the aforementioned free parking, breakfast, and the wine and cheese that make sunset at the Inn at Playa Del Rey all the more special. I arrived at a down time and the owners took us from room to room to see each before we made our final decision. There is an elevator for those who require its services, but since it's a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel, there is little help after you plunk down the credit card for your room.

Even with the drawbacks, I very much enjoyed my stay at the Inn at Playa Del Ray. The mood is low key, the building itself gorgeous and the location itself is easy to access and close enough to Santa Monica that you can go exploring if you have some extra time. Take a chance if you're out this way on business and stay at the Inn at Playa Del Rey. You won't be disappointed.
