Inner Path

April Higney
"Where are you going?", a voice rustled through the trees.
A quiet whisper, "you've been here before, in the dark looking for light,
did you somehow lose yourself along the way,
again wondering which path is right?"

The sound of a heartbeat coming from within.
A voice, "crystal clear, but a tear, from those eyes," flowing from a river with no end.
A quiet whisper, "remember the steps you took, deep breaths in the chill of a winter wind,
and found your way back along the path, when shadows seemed your only friend.

"Where are you going?", a voice trickled through soft raindrops.
A quiet whisper, "you've been here before looking for the moonlight to follow,
did you fall behind your own soul's shadow,
again wondering why the once full heart is echoing now seemingly hollow.

The sound of a heartbeat coming from within.
A voice, "remember how you followed intuition's trail here before,
knelt down brushed aside leaves, and picked up a friend's lost cross, no hesitation.
Listen closely as tears shed like leaves, time replaces with something more.

"You know where you are going.", a voice rustled through the trees.
A quiet whisper, "you've been here before, in the dark looking for light,
maybe some moments of seemingly losing yourself along the way,
but follow the path of love's inner sight."
