Innocence

She was young and innocent,

Oblivious to the dangers of the world.

Her parents were her watch-dogs,

They steered her away from trouble,

And kept her under lock and key.

They surrounded her with rules

And gave her strict guidelines to abide by.

Mom and Dad tried to be with her 24/7.

They suffocated her with love and worry,

And drowned her with care.

She chafed against her bonds,

And her soul strained for freedom.

Then one day, when the watchful eyes of her guardian's was not upon her,

She said yes when she should've said no.

Now she living on the streets,

Disowned by her own family,

Penniless and broken,

Body and soul.

She sees a black trash bag

And remembers her child.

Secretly giving birth in the backend of nowhere,

And then burying the still live babe.

She flees from herself, running and screaming

In the warped halls of her mind.

The blood upon her hands is visible only to her

Like the sin of Macbeth...irremovable.

Her mind is broken, her life is ruined.

Mom and Dad taught her a lot,

But not enough about the hardships of life,

And living...
